Advantages of Using Thermal Insulation in Buildings

Thermal Insulation is the technique to reduce heat transfer between objects in thermal contact or that are in the range of radiated impact. Thermal Insulation consists of materials having a low thermal conductivity that are combined to achieve an even lower system of thermal conductivity. Specialized methods or processes are consisting of various objects and materials through which Thermal Insulation can be achieved.

  1. Advantages of thermal insulation in buildings

  2. Thermal Insulation helps in shielding the interior of a building which makes the building less affected by the temperature of the external environment. This not only helps in reducing the energy usage of the building substantially but also minimizes the energy costs. Now, as we know what thermal insulation is and what is its importance, let us see some of the main benefits or advantages of using Thermal Insulation in buildings.

  3. Purposes and Benefits of Thermal Insulation in Buildings

  4. Reducing the Heating Cost • When a building is insulated thermally that signifies a decrease in the number of losses and therefore, the heating need is smaller and thus the consumption of the fuel is also smaller. As per the calculation made by the industry experts, around 45 to 60% of the energy needed to heat a structure or a building can be saved by the application of suitable thermal insulation.

  5. Creating a Thermal Comfort Condition • The thermal comfort feeling is dependent upon the air temperature existing in the space and of the temperature of the surfaces that surround the building structure. In the rooms which are not insulted, the problem of feeling cold is quite common despite the air temperature is high. This is due to such a situation where the air becomes cold by passing through cold surfaces.

  6. Avoiding Condensation to Happen on Building Elements • Buildings that are not thermally insulated usually face such a situation where condensation appears on the walls. The following process becomes deceptive when vapor is condensed while touching cold wall surfaces. As a consequence, you can see grey spots on the walls which are signs of the mold with dust particles attached to it as a result of the surface being dump.

  7. Reducing the Moisture Present in the Building Elements • A non-insulated wall becomes cold and thus water vapor may liquidate inside the interior of the wall causing severe damage to its overall strength. Here comes the need for External Thermal Insulation which proves to be an appropriate preventive measure against this phenomenon.

  8. Reduced Cost in Terms of Heating or Air-conditioning • The design of the building’s heating system aims at overcoming environmental losses along with maintaining a steady temperature which is desirable by the inhabitants. Thermal insulation aims at the use of a smaller, more efficient, and affordable heating system because the thermal losses are sizably smaller too.

  9. Environmental Protection • When you apply thermal insulation on a building or a structure, it results in saving a considerable amount of energy consumption and thus leads to saving fuel consumption. Less fuel means less pollution and thus benefits the environment. According to the calculation, the emitted CO2 gases for the heating of a building that is insulated are as much as 45% less than the ones emitted from a building which is non-isolated.

  10. Achievement of Sound Insulation When Using Fibrous Insulation Material • The buildings which are suffering from sound insulation can be cured by using fibrous insulation materials such as glass wool or stone wool. These materials can help in achieving sound insulation of the elements of the building. • These were the main advantages of using Thermal Insulation in Building spaces both commercial and residential. You can contact NEO Thermal and make your building thermally insulated in order to protect it from the external elements.
