  7. Expectations At Home • Home Learning standard the same as class work. • Reading – at least 2 times a week • Maths – written and mental practice • Project or cross curricular based • Time to be taken – 30 – 40 minutes a week. (if it is taking longer, please let your class teacher know)

  8. Lunchtimes • Children in 3 sittings – 12 Tables • Take it in turns to eat first • Mixed age tables • Table monitors • Calm quiet lunchtime • Promotes good table manners and behaviour

  9. Topics to be covered • Term 1 – Dragonology - Book • Term 2 – Tudors – Artist (Holbein) • Term 3 – Caribbean – Place (Jamaica) • Term 4 – Caribbean – Music (Steel Pan) • Term 5 – Greeks – Artifact (Trojan horse) • Term 6 – Greeks – Trip (sadly not Greece)

  10. Maths + Writing setting • Children’s own levels • Not necessarily year group specific • Helps them move on at their own level • Flexible – children may move

  11. P.E • Kit indoor and outdoor • T-shirt (yellow school shirt) • Black shorts • Trainers or plimsolls • Tracksuit bottoms • Tracksuit top • No jewellery • Letter from parent

  12. Class Assemblies • Thursday 20th January 2011 • Panther Class • Thursday 10th February 2011 • Orangutan Class • Thursday 17th March 2011 • Hippo Class All start at 9:10am and are followed by Tea and coffee in classes.

  13. Parent Consultations Term 1 • Tuesday 19th October • Thursday 21st October Term 4 • Tuesday 1st march • Thursday 3rd March Term 6 • Open Afternoon Wednesday 13th July

  14. Assessment • Year 6 SATs week 9th – 13th May 2011 • Currently a government requirement • Help aid teacher assessment • Both SATs and Teacher assessment reported to parents • Parent meeting nearer the time • Year 5 assessment the same week

  15. Trips and visits • Term 1 – Visit by Kate O’Hearn • Children’s author • Term 4 – Weston • Term 6 – Whole school trip

  16. Weston • Term 4 – Possible date 4th – 8th April 2011 Information coming out shortly about the trip

  17. Production • Term 6 – Dress rehearsal 9:30 and evening performance 7:00pm Monday 18th July Community performance 10:00 and evening performance 7:00pm Tuesday 19th July To be announced!
