  3. 40 million blind people worldwide are too poor to access eye operations which would restore their sight. They are known as the avoidably blind

  4. A donation of just £5 can enable the blind to see again!!

  5. THE GUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT operates an equal funding partnership between itself and other donors, local clubs in the areas of need and The Rotary Foundation.

  6. THEGUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT requires the local Rotary Clubs to provide the land, the buildings and to maintain all medical units.

  7. THEGUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT requires all eye clinics and hospitals to achieve financial self sustainability

  8. THE GUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT Eye operations for private patents are an important source of income. This provides funding for poor patients to be treated free of charge

  9. THE GUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT Initially 10 Indian eye surgeons were trained in the UK. Contracted to operate primarily at the Rotary facilities AND to train incoming surgeons

  10. THE GUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT presently enables all optical problems to be assessed, but recognises that its main work remains the treatment of CARARACTS, GLAUCOMA, RETINAL DETACHMENT and DIABETIC RETINOPATHY.

  11. THE GUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT In 1998 Guildford Rotarian Sam N Das an eye surgeon and consultant ophthalmic surgeon, started the project in Kolkata and West Bengal with a personal ambition to restore the sight of 1,000,000 people!

  12. THE GUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT provides:- Training for eye surgeons   Microscopes and laser equipment etc. Eye buses Hospital transport  Mobile eye screening camps Surgical ophthalmic procedures

  13. THE GUILDFORD ROTARY EYE PROJECT to expand its work: More volunteers to raise awareness in the UK and around the world. More volunteers to help with fund raising events. More FUNDING!
