  10. In the beginning… The club, with four members, met in rotation at the offices of the members - thus the name Rotary.

  11. Service Above Self • Rotary was quick to recognize that fellowship alone would not keep a group together — there needed to be a purpose. • The first project was to construct public washrooms in downtown Chicago. • Thus, Rotary became the world’s first “service club”.

  21. Local Rotary Clubs are Autonomous • Our club was chartered in 1964. • When was the WL Daybreak Club chartered? The Rotary Club of Williams Lake Daybreak became a chartered member in 2003.
