  3. T A S K 1 Module 8 Analysis Exercise The purpose of this exercise is to walk you through a 12-step analysis process (see slide 5) using the documents and the automated tools provided. There are tasks associated with each step of the process. To begin this exercise, we recommend you open and minimize all of the documents (if you haven’t or can’t print them for reference) and tools (you will need to use wInsight and MS Project). This will allow you to readily move between documents, using the Microsoft Windows Navigation buttons at the bottom of your screen, as you step through this exercise. “CLICK” TO CONTINUE…

  4. T A S K 1 TASK 1 In Task 1, you will complete the first four steps of the analysis process (see next slide). To complete these steps, you identify and update the requirements of the contract and begin to determine how the contractor is progressing on meeting technical requirements. “CLICK” TO CONTINUE…

T A S K 1 12-Step Integrated Program Management Model Data Collection Program Requirements Analysis Contract Analysis Technical and Risk Analysis Data Validity Check Network Schedule Analysis Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) Analysis Schedule Drivers Analysis Cost Drivers Analysis EAC and PAC Forecasts Financial Analysis Reports to Management “CLICK” TO CONTINUE…

  6. T A S K 1 Step 1 – Data Collection Why – Must have the proper data before you can do analysis. What Do You Need ? Acquisition Program Baseline (APB) Capability Development Document (CDD)(not provided in this exercise) Technical Performance Measurement (TPMs) Network Schedule CPR (LAR file) TASK: Review the documents listed above (except CDD), located on the “Reference Documents” page of the “Tools Practice” section, to become familiar with the program requirements and status “CLICK” TO CONTINUE…

  7. T A S K 1 Step 2 – Program Requirement Analysis Why – To determine what the performance of the system will be measured against. What – Key Performance Parameters (KPPs) for Technical, Cost and Schedule are defined by the APB. TASKS: Review the LAR APB (“Reference Documents” page) to: Identify Technical KPPs Identify Schedule KPPs (In particular, make note of the dates for key technical reviews – PDR and CDR) Identify Cost KPPs “CLICK” TO CONTINUE…

  8. T A S K 1 Step 3 – Contract Analysis Why – To determine if the contract requirements are correctly stated and agree with APB/CDD requirements; and to determine the ability of the contractor to meet the requirements. What – This step includes analyzing the contract and all of its modifications; reviewing the contractor's financial status and the current contract funding levels; identifying the contract’s technical requirements; and reviewing the contract’s delivery requirements. TASK: None required in this exercise since no contract is provided “CLICK” TO CONTINUE…

  9. T A S K 1 Step 4 – Technical Status Analysis Why – To determine if the technical performance is being met. What – Risk Management includes analysis of technical performance and the related impacts on cost and schedule performance. TASKS: Evaluate technical performance status (TPMs) Are technical parameters on track to meet objective and/or threshold values? Identify technical drivers Based on current performance levels, which technical parameters might potentially impact cost and schedule performance? Note those parameters to analyze during later steps Correlate actual performance data (CAIV/TPMs) with APB performance goals “CLICK” TO CONTINUE…
