  1. The outsidersS. E. HintonNA/1967coming of age (coa) Nate L. Period 2

  2. Setting • Ponyboy was walking home on a dark night after the movies. The streets were so quiet you could hear a pen drop , or even hear someone whisper.

  3. Characters

  4. Conflict • The main conflict of the story is that the socs and greasers are always picking fights with each other. They do this to see who has the toughest gang.

  5. Summary of Plot • That the socs and greasers are enemies who want to kill/hurt each other in the battles that they pick, or they do it just to make them feel weak.

  6. Theme Socs and us greasers are always fighting. • We found Johnny whimpering in some bushes. (page 4) • They came out of the car and tried to cut me and my hair. (page 5) • The socs treat us like we are there pets. (page 7)

  7. Point of View • The point of view in this story is in first person. The way I found out it was in first person is that the main character used the words I and me. If this story was in third person I would get lost and would not know who was talking.

  8. Symbolism • The reason I picked a fist is because the gangs are always throwing punches and beating each other up.

  9. Recommendation • I would not recommend this book because It wasn’t interesting. It was very boring when I was reading it. The only thing I liked was when pony boy couldn't help himself and almost got cut. The other reason I didn’t like this book is because of the names Ponyboy and his brothers name Sodapop. That is why I did not like this book.
