  6. Coach, Player, and Parent norms and Roles • Coach • Develop a competitive team through our training sessions. • We train like how we want to play – high press, possession with a purpose. • Open door policy. • Player • Be committed to the team. Training time: give maximum effort and maintain a positive attitude; push each other to become better. • Speak directly to coach. • Represent the school well at all times. Be a leader. Join an organization. Speak well of each other. • Improvement each day. How did I perform? Where can I improve? How will I improve? What’s my plan to improve? Am I improving? If not, what can I change? (A journal and a watch.) • Parent • Be a supporter for all the boys. We want (and need) your help to have a truly successful program.

  7. Training Time playing time • After school training usually runs until 5:00 (3 – 5). Before school training usually runs 7:25-8:20. We like to maximize our training by listening during demos/explanations, focusing on the session, jogging to water, and maintaining the desire to become better. Maintain a positive attitude. We have a focus – We don’t go through the motions; every ball, every run is important. We must wear shin guards to training, no jewelry – earrings, watches, rings, necklaces. • Playing time is not guaranteed. Playing time is based on training sessions: overall skill, physical ability, effort, need, mental fortitude, ability to understand the game/game conditions – what we want/are trying to achieve, active involvement/participation, demeanor, and leadership ability. Roles document. • Evaluation is a continuous process. • Club soccer – not in evaluation. • If a player is concerned with their playing time. The proper course is to ask the coach, before or after training, what they can do to improve.
