  1. SPACE AND BEYOND! By Shelby, Rhiannon ,Immi and Sariah!

  2. Contents! • Slide 1 : Full Moon • Slide 2 : Man on the Moon • Slide 3 : Animals in space • Slide 4 : Earth • Slide 5 : Sun • Slide 6 : Do you remember all the Planets? • Slide 7 : Other Facts • Slide 8 : Glossary

  3. Full Moon It takes 28 days to orbit the Earth! A full moon is caused by sunlight reflecting on the moon’s surface ; the moon is not a light source. There are 8 phases of the moon.

  4. MAN ON THE MOON! Neil Armstrong was the First ever man on the Moon. His two Companions were Buzz Aldrin and Micheal Collins. Micheal Collins Stayed in the rocket. “One small step for man one huge leap for mankind!” says Neil Armstrong.

  5. ANIMALS IN SPACE ! • The first ever animals in space were fruit flies. The second was a dog called Laika. After was a monkey (don’t ask me why!) • The reason for this is that they wanted to know whether animals can survive because we can, and the answer is yes.

  6. EARTH! • Here is a website that we found extremely useful for facts about space! It is called Kids Astronomy! • The Earth is one of 8 planets however there used to be 9 planets. Why? Scientist's have discovered that Pluto is to small to be a Planet it is now thought to be a rock. The earth spins on its axis. Kids Astronomy!

  7. Sun The sun is the centre of the solar system. People used to think (years ago) that everything evolved and orbited around the Earth. When in fact the Earth orbits the Sun and the Moon orbits the Earth. The diameter of the sun is 1,392,000 kilometers.

  8. Do you remember all the planets? My = Mercury Very = Venus Epic = Earth Mum =Mars Just =Jupiter Saw =Saturn Uncle =Uranus Nick =Neptune If people/astronauts wanted to fly to Mars the would be locked in a room together for 2 years to test their patients.

  9. Other Facts! Diameters. . • Mercury=4,880 km • Venus=12,104 km • Earth=12,756 km • Mars=6,794 km • Jupiter=142,984 km • Saturn=120,536 km • Uranus=51,118 km • Neptune=49,532 km • Pluto=2,274 km The hottest planet is Venus it is 462 c.

  10. Astronomy is people who study space. Clickhere to go back to the slide you were on. Glossary! Companions are like friends, crew and followers. Click here to go back to the slide you were on. Orbit is a path that circles a planet or the sun. Click here to go back to the slide you were on. The diameter is the length through the centre. Click here to go back to the slide you were on. An astronaut is someone who goes into space. Click here to go back to the slide you were on A solar system is the sun and all the planets that orbit round it.
