  5. 13-PM-241-DJ-BG MINISTERUL EDUCAŢIEI NAȚIONALE INSPECTORATUL ŞCOLAR JUDEŢEAN DOLJ ŞCOALA GIMNAZIALĂ TEASC Teasc is called a “comună” in Romanian. It is situated in Dolj County, in the south-west of Romania, around 25 kilometres away from Craiova, the capital of Dolj County. Dolj County is one of the eight counties which make up Oltenia Region. Teasc is made up of two villages: Teasc and Secui. The River Jiu, one of the biggest rivers in Romania, flows near the village. It has 3200 inhabitants. It is an agricultural community, most of the families living in Teasc are farmers, or they work temporarily abroad, while a small number of people works in the nearby villages and Craiova. The inhabitants of Teasc are orthodox Christian.

Teasc Secondary School,Dolj County 13-PM-241-DJ-BG MINISTERUL EDUCAŢIEI NAȚIONALE INSPECTORATUL ŞCOLAR JUDEŢEAN DOLJ ŞCOALA GIMNAZIALĂ TEASC Școala Gimnazială Teasc is situated some 25 kilometres away from the municipality of Craiova, the biggest city in Dolj County. Covering kindergarten, elementary and lower secondary education, the pupils` ages range from 4 to 15. The school is situated in a socio-economically disadvantaged area – the pupils` families are sustained through agriculture. In order to provide for their rather large families, some of the parents of the pupils work abroad. There is a school building in each of the two villages: Teasc and Secui.

There are 4 kindergarten groups, a primary level – zero class to fourth form and a secondary level, called “gimnaziu” – fifth to eighth form.

They practice on a weekly basis and present the dances to school celebrations, local events such as the celebration of the village, as well as dance contests, to the delight of all participants.

Teasc Secondary School,Dolj County 13-PM-241-DJ-BG MINISTERUL EDUCAŢIEI NAȚIONALE INSPECTORATUL ŞCOLAR JUDEŢEAN DOLJ ŞCOALA GIMNAZIALĂ TEASC They learn French and English at school and they have already been presented and shown an interest in the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe and the world, as well as the life of schoolchildren living in other European countries.

Teasc Secondary School,Dolj County 13-PM-241-DJ-BG MINISTERUL EDUCAŢIEI NAȚIONALE INSPECTORATUL ŞCOLAR JUDEŢEAN DOLJ ŞCOALA GIMNAZIALĂ TEASC Taking part in a Comenius project is an opportunity for the pupils to meet children from other schools and civilizations, to make new friends, to improve their fluency in English, to express their opinions freely, to be motivated and cooperate in order to solve task,s to develop strategic thinking and the ability to use ICT technology, to encourage them to learn more about the past and become aware of their belonging to the big “European history and family”, to develop the feeling of national pride, to widen their cultural horizon, to acquire a new European dimension.
