  3. Types of Metamorphic Rocks • Geologists classify metamorphic rocks according to the arrangement of the grains that make up the rocks.

  4. Foliated vs Non foliated • Metamorphic rock’s grains can be arranged in parallel layers or bands, we call these types of metamorphic rocks foliated rocks. Ex. Slate • In non foliated rock, the grains are arranged randomly. Ex. Marble and Quartzite

  5. Uses of Metamorphic Rock • Certain metamorphic rocks are important materials for building and sculpture. • The wide arrangement of color makes them great for design work.
