SCORE PRIZE 2011 Loudon Makes 1st Finalist List • “The SCORE Prize annually awards $10,000 to the elementary, middle, and high school and $25,000 to one district in Tennessee that have most dramatically improved student achievement. In awarding the SCORE Prize, we aim to recognize those schools and districts that are doing the hard work of education reform, highlight and share their best practices, and show other schools and districts throughout Tennessee that improvement is possible.” -TNSCORE.ORG

Current Tennessee Accountability Plan 2011-2012 Subgroups White Hispanic Black Native American Asian/Pacific Islander Economically Disadvantaged Special Education Limited English Proficient Minimum of 45 students for accountability purposes K-8 Schools High Schools 95% tested AND 74% proficient in language arts (combination of English and writing) 95% tested AND 66% proficient in language arts (combination of reading, language, and writing) Only students who are enrolled for the full academic year are included 95% tested AND 63% proficient in Algebra 95% tested AND 60% proficient in mathematics A 95% confidence interval is applied to determine if targets are met 93% attendance rate or show improvement 90% graduation rate or show improvement

Proposed Tennessee Accountability Plan: WAIVER K-8 Schools High Schools Subgroups White vs. Non-White Economically Disadvantaged (ED) vs. Non-ED Students with disabilities (SWD) vs. Non-SWD English Learners (EL) vs. Non-EL Minimum of 30 students for accountability purposes 95% tested TCAP Math, Science, & R/LA data (weighted 33.3% each) 95% tested EOC Algebra I , Eng I Eng II, Biology I, & Grad Rate (weighted 20% each) Increase overall by 4% Decrease Subgroup Achievement gaps by 6% Increase overall by 4% Decrease Subgroup Achievement gaps by 6% Reward: Top 5% in %P/A & Progress Focus: 10% with largest ACH gap; subgroup below threshold Priority: Bottom 5% in Proficiency Includes ETT (Every Test Taker), regardless of attendance, transfer, etc. Reward: Top 5% in %P/A & Progress Focus: 10% with largest ACH gap; subgroup below threshold; <60% Grad Rate Priority: Bottom 5% in Proficiency *Based on a 3-year “success rate” for each subgroup, by school, for the total number of students taking any corresponding exam
