  3. What’s new? • Added Offenses: • Harassment or bullying on the basis of race, color, or national origin • UB: Harassment - Racial • Harassment or bullying on the basis of disability • UB: Harassment – Disability • Harassment or bullying on the basis of sex • Use the current offense of “Sexual Harassment” to report • Long Term suspensions lasting until the end of the school year or longer must be noted by the action type “OSS for Remainder of the School Year”

  4. What does the state require to report? • The 16 Reportable offenses (located on the handout) • ISS, OSS and Expulsion • Any assignment to an alternative school or alternative learning program • Any use of corporal punishment • All suspension data should be reported as 1 single action (will show in example) • Any impermissible uses of seclusion and restraint by school staff • SR- Aversive Procedure • SR- Illegal Physical Restraint • SR- Illegal Mechanical Restraint • SR- Illegal Seclusion • Report the most serious offense first in an incident with multiple offenses • In weapon-related offenses, the type of weapon must be reported • Whether or not the victim of one of the nine (9) violent crimes was offered a transfer and whether or not the victim accepted the transfer

  5. What’s required locally? • The Title of the incident must be given the name of the offense • Ex. “UB: Misuse of school technology” • Use the Description Field to enter what occurred as you normally would • For incidents with Multiple offenders, use an alias instead of the students real name • All office referrals

  6. Powerschool Examples • Real Life Scenario • Student gets in a fight and is given 5 days suspension • Recording all suspension data within an incident as a single action • After the hearing, he is given 5 additional days

  7. Reminders • Students reporting immediately to an alternative program, who do not miss any days of school should have their suspensions replaced with the consequence of “Assignment to ALP Program” • All incidents must have at least one Offender, one Behavior and one Action in order to be saved. • It is not required to put the name of the user entering the incident into the system. (I.E. Prepared by field) • Make sure to use Mozilla Firefox to enter incidents

  8. Questions/Concerns • Generating Reports and Letters • Drop downs with only one choice • Entering the time frame (not required) • Title can be typed freehand (See Offense List and type the full description) • Location comment VS. Location Description (not required) • Redundancy in the Participant Attributes screen • Seeing how many days a student is suspended • Not user friendly • “Prepared by” field (not required) • Entering information into PS and into SWIS (double entry)
