Basic Equations:

a.) Continuity:

mass in = mass out

b.) Bernoulli’s Eqn.

Total energy/ pressure is constant throughout





Advantages
ADVANTAGES

  • Higher coefficient of discharge than orificemeter

  • Cheaper and easier to install

  • Physical length is less compared to venturimeter

  • Useful for flow measurement containing solid particles


Disadvantages
DISADVANTAGES

  • Expensive and difficult to install than orificemeter

  • Poor pressure recovery

  • Limited moderate pipe size
