  1. FLOW NOZZLES

  2. INTRODUCTION • It’s a venturimeter without it diverging cone. • Principle behind flow nozzles is same as in case of orificemeter and venturimeter – Bernoulli's principle. • Made of generally gun metal, stainless steel or monel metal.

  3. Flow Meters • Orifice Meters • Venturi Meters • Flow Nozzles

  4. Flow through a Nozzle Basic Equations: a.) Continuity: mass in = mass out b.) Bernoulli’s Eqn. Total energy/ pressure is constant throughout

  5. Flow through a Nozzle

  6. Flow through a Nozzle

  7. Flow through a Nozzle 2 1 1 DP

  8. ADVANTAGES • Higher coefficient of discharge than orificemeter • Cheaper and easier to install • Physical length is less compared to venturimeter • Useful for flow measurement containing solid particles

  9. DISADVANTAGES • Expensive and difficult to install than orificemeter • Poor pressure recovery • Limited moderate pipe size
