Goals of Aerobic Training • Understand/define overload, progressive overload, specificity, VO2max and lactate threshold/OBLA • Explain the five goals of aerobic endurance training • Define the two things (other than training) that improvements are based on • Name and explain the four training components of aerobic endurance • Explain the three general program components of aerobic endurance

  3. Goals of Aerobic Training • What is the most important training component and what are the three ways to measure it • How is heart rate related to VO2? • Explain the two methods for determining target heart rate and know their formulas

  4. Types of Training Programs and Periodization • Know the purpose, intensity, duration, frequency, expected adaptations, possible disadvantages and any other special considerations for the five different types of aerobic endurance training • Define progression and periodization • Know the levels of progression that should occur on a week to week basis • Know the purpose, frequency, typical duration and intensity for the four sport seasons • Explain cross training, overtraining, detraining and tapering as it relates to aerobic endurance training • What are the benefits of resistance training for aerobic endurance athletes
