  2. Timed Writing • Mini lesson intro paragraphs (academic). • 35 minutes to organize and write. • If you finish before the time is up, please proof your paper. • You may read your IR book. • Turn your essay into the turn in box.

  3. Intro Paragraph • Begin with a general statement about the topic. Ex. Human life is a precious gift that once taken can never be restored. • Restate the prompt. Ex. Reverend Hale, a supposedly wise man in The Crucible, said that there is no reason that could possibly justify the taking of a life.

  4. Continue to narrow the topic. Ex. . Reverend Hale’s philosophy stems from the wild hysteria and witch hunts that killed many innocent people. While human life is sacred, Reverend Hale’s belief cannot be unilaterally correct.

  5. Thesis comes next after you have sufficiently addressed the topic in a broad or general way to a specific way. Ex. There are some times when there is a glorious or justified reason for taking human life.

  6. The Whole paragraph Human life is a precious gift that once taken can never be restored.   8. Read • The Crucible • View Act II • Work on reading packet (look at conflicts, foils, and mood) • Interims! Please read the note at the bottom of the page. Most of your Rhetorical Analyses papers have NOT been graded. • If I made a mistake on your grade, please attach the ‘receipt’ and write me a note.

  9. Homework • Make sure your quarter 1 vocabulary prefixes and root words are complete. • Read your IR Book. 2nd third of the packet is due October 18/19.
