  1. SPS Days 2001-Controls issues M. Albert SL/OP PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001

  2. Outline • NAOS(=New Analog Observation System) • Control of Transfer Lines TI2/TI8 • Miscellaneous PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001

  3. NAOS (1/2) • Upgrade of trigger system • initiated after removal of ViewKick • specification transmitted to SL/CO in December 2000, but NO response yet • if no implementation for SU 2001: • remaining jitter = 60ns (internal TG8 clock) • NO verification of RF prepulse reception(this feature was very useful) PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001

  4. NAOS (2/2) • Decisions are needed on : • software support by SL/CO • continuation of collaboration between PS and SL to guarantee system functionality • or launch a study to find a replacement tool for it PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001

  5. Control of TI2/8 • All transferlines must be controlled by the same software suite which should be part of the SPS control system. • Feasibility study for TZ extension by G.Arduini PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001

  6. Planning (reminder) • Start-up 2003: LSS4 extraction ready • Cold check-out • Fast extraction tests to TED400353 with CNGS and LHC beams • Spring 2004: LSS6 extr. + TI8 ready • Cold check-out • Fast extraction (LSS4) to TED87765 in TI8 • Injection tests in LHC sector • Fast extraction tests to west TED with LHC beams PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001

  7. TZ extension - how ? (1/2) • Speed-up matching and reload (part of ‘maintenance work’ on SW and TZ-DB) • Allow more resident sequences in HW(ROCS, timing) • Foresee economy options for LHC lines • Beam instrumentation (must be done anyway): • Get rid of acquisition delays (acqu. Server, TZ DB) • Need to rewrite measurement black boxes (couplers, SEM, BCTs, OTRs(?)) – TZ PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001

  8. TZ extension - how ? (2/2) • Interlocks • The new and most important part ! SPS2001 Interlock Handler, with higher priority at least for the beam and HW interlocks • Delegate more responsibility to the equipment ! (PC, BI)  key point for success • Need to implement ‘sanity check’ – TZ • Need to implement kicker control – TZ • Interface to LHC (beam parameters) • Keep SL Equip alive PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001

  9. Miscellaneous • JAVA interface for:SPS Selection & Transfer Selection • ADS for SPS (for data file saving)will probably be done by SL/OP with advise from SL/CO PCR Software Meeting - 16/3/2001
