  2. What is a Stimulus? • An idea • A starting point • A feeling • Painters have a stimulus before they paint • What they are going to paint • Actors have a stimulus before they act • The character they are going to become

Task 1 – 10 mins • Working in groups, create a mind map like the one you have just seen • Decide on a stimulus that your group could use to write a song about – make a note of this in the centre of your group’s mind map • The stimulus could be about school, football, your life – anything really • Try to be specific e.g. rather than just using “football” as a stimulus you could consider a particular football event e.g. “Aston Villa winning the European cup”

  5. A Stimulus… • In 1905 Gloucester Rugby Club played the All Blacks for the first time. • Imagine the excitement in Gloucester. International tours were not as regular as they are now – transport and money were more limited!

  9. Main Activity • You are going to compose a Haka this lesson • It will be from a stimulus of your choice • Short repeated statements work well in Hakas • What are “short repeated statements”?

  10. School Haka Leader: We are going to work, Chorus: We are going to learn, Leader: We are going to work, Chorus: We are going to learn, All Together: We’ll get GCSEs, And do it with ease! We are the best, We’ll ace every test! We’ll do it with ease! YEAH!

Main Activity • Your task for this lesson is to compose a Haka in your groups • Your stimulus for the Haka should be something specific taken from your mind maps • Remember, short repeated statements work well in Hakas (remember the New Zealand one) • You have 10 minutes to complete this task
