  1. TOP, The Output Processorâ Training Presentation Electrotek Concepts

  2. What is TOP? • TOP is an acronym for “The Output Processor”, a software tool which reads data from a variety of measurement instruments and transforms it into simplified power system analyses for inclusion in reports and documents.

  3. System Requirements • 386/486 IBM Compatible PC • 4 MB RAM or more • 80387 Math Co-processor • Windows 3.1 or greater • Windows Compatible Video Card • Windows Compatible Printer • Windows Compatible DOS

  4. Data Sharing • The data being visualized in a window can be exported to a variety of other file formats including: • IEEE Comtrade (.CFG) • Windows Metafile (.WMF) • Tagged Image Format (.TIF) • Windows Bitmap (.BMP) • Comma Separated Variable (.CSV)

  5. Data Management Capability • TOP uses a system called the stack to simplify handling data from various sources.

  6. Data Display • TOP provides a variety of ways to visualize the data of interest. • Waveform and spectrum plots • Frequency response plots • Summary tables • Summary bar/volume charts • Cumulative probability charts • Probability density charts

  7. Output Examples

  8. Exporting Data: PASS to TOP • Method 1: Using the TOP icon in PASS. Select TOP Icon in PASS to automatically load and plot graph in TOP.

  9. Exporting Data: PASS to TOP • Method 2: Using the Copy Special feature.

  10. Exporting Data: PASS to TOP • Method 2

  11. Getting Started - Saving Files • Saving files in PASS Save as .CSV file.

  12. Getting Started - Opening Files • Opening files in TOP .CSV files are automatically loaded on to the stack.

  13. Getting Started - Using Quick Graph

  14. Getting Started - Loading Data • Opening IEEE Comtrade files (.CFG) Dialog Box for loading data on the stack.

  15. Graphical Manipulations • Working with multiple graphs. • Using the zoom feature. • Formatting graphs

  16. Multiple Graphs • Plotting multiple graphs in a single frame.

  17. Multiple Graphs, cont. • Plotting multiple graphs in a single window.

  18. Zooming with the Mouse • To zoom in on a portion of the graph, click and drag the right mouse button to create a rectangular box around the area of interest and then release the button.

  19. Formatting graphs in TOP • Data labels • Axis scaling • Creating legends • and more!

  20. TOPCalc Functions • Add, Subtract • Multiply, Divide • FFT, DFT, IDFT • Power, energy and I2t • Integration, square square root • X-Y combine • Filter, time shift • V, I, & power dB ratio • Cumulative probability

  21. TOPCalc Example • Calculation of line-line voltage, VAl-l, from phase Al-g voltage and phase Bl-g voltage waveforms. VAl-g = 100V VBl-g = 100V VCl-g = 100V

  22. TOPCalc Example, cont. VAl-l = VAl-g - VBl-g

  23. TOPCalc Example, cont. TOPCalc creates result of operation as another quantity specified with a DERIVED tag name. VAl-l = 173V VBl-l = 173V VCl-l = 173V

  24. Data Formatting • Preferences can be changed to customize your output: • Base quantities (per unitizing) • Units (axis labels and multipliers) • Data, comment, and annotation blocks • Display colors • Cumulative probability charts • Axis scaling, grid lines, labels

  25. Changing Preferences

  26. Creating Tables • TOP can simply provide a table for the following parameters.

  27. Creating Tables, cont. • Table can be utilized with any spreadsheet for further analysis.

  28. Availability • TOP, The Output Processorâ is available for download from Electrotek Concepts’ Web site at www.electrotek.com/top • Support is available from the TOP Forum, a threaded Internet discussion group, also accessible from the TOP download site
