  2. Daily Writing: Opportunities 4/28/14 Choose one prompt to respond to and explain with detail: • “Opportunities are like sunrises.   3. Monday: GG Theme • Show me: Notes AND practice activities pg. 498-508. We’ll review tomorrow. • Move on to assigned theme in groups…Be prepared to present tomorrow!

  4. Monday: Themes in Groups • Go through handout. • For your assigned theme, discuss the handout questions, determine the them, and go through the novel and find passages to illuminate its issue. Write the page number, the quote and an explanation on how the quote relates to the issue. • Create a poster that illustrates the novel and the theme. • Be prepared to present tomorrow! Late HW pass for the best presentation/most creative poster!

Groups present! • First tell us your THEME (not just your topic), • then go through points that you covered in your discussion. • Don’t just say the quote – tell us HOW that quote supports your theme. • Review notes AND practice activities pg. 498-508

  10. Wednesday: GG Really difficult to determine the best presentation yesterday… It came down to the poster!  • Finish BINGO! • Crossword puzzle. • Watch movie? Be prepared for final test on Monday!

  12. Thursday: Essay 3 • GG jeopardy! • Journal title: Summary of Peace • Read article for essay 3 SEVERAL times and write a one-paragraph summary (due tomorrow). • 2nd time you read it, mark it up! • Use the article, the checklist and the handout on attribution verbs as you write!

  13. Daily Writing: Friday 5/2/14 Choose one prompt to respond to and explain with detail: • What was the best part of your week? Explain! • What did you learn this week? Explain! Planner: • Final test Monday! • Due Tues: Prewriting & outline essay #3 • Also, For LHP have the BEST rewrites by Tues

Friday: Essay 3 • Show me your paragraph summary. • As I check, read your summary OUT LOUD to a peer. • Peer: go through the summary checklist as they read. • Fix the sentences by reading them OUT LOUD! • Review essay 3 assignment & prompts. • Journal title: Prewriting & outline essay 3 Subtitle: Prompt A Subtitle: Prompt B • Prewrite for at least 5-10 mins on EACH prompt. Don’t let your pen come off the paper! • Create an outline for the prompt you chose.
