  3. Recommendations • Review existing models of early years provision • in local areas to ensure, high quality, • co-ordinated service delivery for the most • vulnerable

Recommendations – the national view Pre-school placements have to reflect the need for best value, quality of provision and meeting the needs of families. “Ministers expect authorities to secure pre-school education through partner providers in the voluntary and private sectors wherever there is parental demand for this and wherever it is consistent with ‘best value’ in the use of public funds.” Standards in Scotland’s Schools etc Act 2000

Who are our resources? • All early years staff groups across the Council. • Playgroup supervisors • Playgroup workers • Pre-School Development Workers • Nursery Teachers • Early Years Co-ordinating Teachers • Nursery Nurses, including Early • Intervention Nursery Nurses • Early Years Support Staff • Early Years Workers • Childcare Partnership Staff • Surestart Staff • Childcare Strategy Staff

  8. What are our resources? • Service providers across Aberdeenshire who work in partnership with the Council. • playgroups in the voluntary • sector • nurseries in the private sector • nurseries attached to primary • schools • playgroups which are • managed by E, L&L

  9. How will this affect me? What will it mean? • An Action plan for each CSN has been drawn up to anticipate the way forward in each CSN area. • This Action Plan will reflect the need for best value, quality of provision and meeting needs of families. • It will address the levels of • over and under provision • and will create opportunities to align the Early Years Service.

  10. Impact • A range of choice will be offered across CSN’s • School Nursery Places will be filled first in line with best value principles • Pre–school places will continue to be secured in line with Aberdeenshire Admission Policy
