  3. Pre-Revolt • Inside the temple was a life-sized bronze statue of Emperor Claudius • First Roman styled temple in Britain • Temple built on a podium • Altar in front of the temple • 12 columns prostyle

  4. Boudiccan Revolt • There was a lack of soldiers stationed in Colchester • People who were living in the area took refuge inside the temple • However the temple was burnt down during the revolt
