There is a formal occasion organised and we have to put on a good show. The Mayor of Frankfurt will be attending so we have to look our best and represent our group well.

  16. Brackenstown Scouts Germany Trip July 28th- August 5th Campsite • Campsite is a former stocked fishing lake west of Frankfurt city centre. • Large lake, a few fields and a large wooded area. • It is fully secure. • Toilet, kitchen and wet weather facilities.

Programme Brackenstown Scouts Germany Trip July 28th- August 5th • Camping every night • Day 1 – Set up camp • Day 2 – City Game – a treasure hunt type trip around Frankfurt with scouts and leaders • Day 3 – Group day – Scouts decide programme. Games, swimming in nearby facility, etc • Day 4 – Scouting skills workshops. Pioneering, backwoods, firelighting, fishing, climbing etc • Day 5 – Day trip. TBD, possiblities natural history museum, geo cashing, Freudenberg Castle • Day 6 – Free time followed by the “Mountain Party” The main event of camp. A religious ceremony on camp with invited guests (former scouts, parents and friends) and local politicians. Followed by a camp feast with a suckling pig. The end will be a huge bonfire. • Day 7 – Another day trip TBD, as above • Day 8 – Camp down and head home.

Lunch: Soup and sandwiches Macaroni and cheese Soft pretzels with sausages Fried potatoes, mixed salad Dinners: Meatballs with vegetables and rice Lentil Stew with sauerkraut Spaghetti with tomato sauce, fruit compote Meatloaf with vegetables BBQ Pork on skewers, dumplings (potato) and Sauerkaut Irish stew Sausages and potato salad We can change the menu as we see fit – so don’t worry too much

Brackenstown Scouts Germany Trip July 28th- August 5th Phone Policy • Scouts will be given their phones back for 1 hour every second day • Phone time will be after dinner • Be careful of international phone charges • Days phones will be allowed: Monday 28th, Wed 30th, Fri 1st Aug, Sun 3rd, Tue 5th. • Special exceptions must be communicated by the parents before we leave.
