Smart Grid Standard Forum • Focuses on Electricity-related Standard (ex, IEC) • 1st step (’10~’11) : Implementation priority-based • 2nd step (’12~’13) : Advanced Power Grid • 3rd step (’14~ ) : Integrated Operation and Management SG Standard Forum Steering Committee Bureau (KSGA) Policy Smart Place S-Transportation S-Renewable S-Power Grid S-Electricity Service Working Groups

  4. SG ICT Convergence Forum • Focuses on Standardization for ICT aspects of Smart Grid (ex, ITU, JTC1, etc.) • ITU-T FG on Smart Grid will concentrate on ICT standard for Smart Grid (’10.06.) Steering Committee TTA Bureau (KSGA) Policy Technology Service

Strategic Direction • Smart Grid is Convergence with Power & ICT • Network convergence, Service convergence and Terminal convergence • To support Interoperability and Security requirements, highly secured and QoS guaranteed IP-based telecommunications network should be taken into account for delivery of data • Home Network could be reused for Home Area Network • Not only Electricity but also Gas, Water, Heating, etc.

  6. Challenges • ICT systems in Power Industry vs. ICT systems of ICT Industry • Purpose, Capability, Openness, etc. • Too many standards vs. Absent standard • SDOs : ITU, IEC, JTC1, IEEE, ETSI, ANSI, … • Areas : Information, Telecommunications, Electricity, …
