  1. Nataliya Kussul Space Research Institute NASU-NSAU, Ukraine Grid Activities inUkraine WGISS 22, Annapolis 2006

  2. Main activities since WGISS-21 • Preparation of INTAS-CNES-NSAU project (good results of first stage evaluation) • Preparation of ESA Cat-1 project • New task investigation for Ukrainian Grid and may be WAG • Summer school organizing on services in Earth observation (September, 7-12, Crimea, Ukraine)

  3. INTAS-CNES-NSAU project • INTAS-CNES-NSAU grant is submitted and under review (good results of first stage evaluation by INTAS experts) • Title: “Data Fusion Grid Infrastructure” • Main goal: to develop data fusion methods for satellite data processing and to implement them in Grid Infrastructure that could be considered as one of WAG prototypes • Partners: • CNES (Poul Kopp) • Institute of Informatics, Slovak Academy of Sciences • Space Research Institute of NASU-NSAU (Ukraine) • Space Research Institute of RAN (Russia)

  4. ESA Category-1 project • ESA Category-1 grant is under preparation • Draft Title: “Wide Area Grid Testbed for Flood Monitoring using Spaceborne SAR and Optical Data” • Goal: to develop WAG testbed suitable forreal-world data fusion tasks • Partners: • CNES • ESA • Space Research Institute of NASU-NSAU (Ukraine) • RSGS (Remote sensing satellite ground station of China) • Institute of Informatics of Slovak Academy of Science

  5. Ukraine: New Task • A new task have been arised: to provide serviceas a basis for water resources ecological management • SeaDAS project (http://seadas.gsfc.nasa.gov/)is de-facto standard for water-domain satellite data processing • Validation of results will be performed on thebasis of Ukrainian Gidrobiological Station(Kherson).

  6. SeaDAS results: chlorophyll

  7. Technical issues • SeaDAS is “legacy” code: • No client-server interface • A set of executables • Thanks God, there are scripting possibility • To integrate it with Grid infrastructure GEMLCA (http://www.cpc.wmin.ac.uk/gemlca/) adapter seems to be most appropriate solution: • Wraps legacy code into Grid-service deployable into Globus container • Allows integration with P-GRADE portal

  8. Summer school (1/2) • “Scientific Space Research: Informational Services on Remote Sensing and Space Weather”

  9. Summer school (2/2) • “Scientific Space Research: Informational Services on Remote Sensing and Space Weather” • Main topics • Investigation of the Earth from space • Space weather and space physics • Methods and algorithms for satellite data processing • Informational services, space information technologies and infrastructure • Technical aspects and design of space vehicles
