North Ashfield Partnership advancing education for all We hope to achieve: • High quality local provision for learners • A wider range of courses including vocational pathways and links with industry • Greater coherence in learning pathways • Increased participation • Improved guidance and support • Meeting learner needs

  6. Level 3 options are 2 Year courses, worth one AS Level after 1 Year and a Full A Level after 2 Years. They involve 6 LESSONS PER WEEK. The exceptions to this are Childcare (Full timetable, worth 3 A Levels), Further Mathematics (12 lessons per week, worth 2 A Levels) and HSLA (worth ¼ of an A Level). • There are two broad types of course, A LEVEL and APPLIED. Both are of equal value in terms of points for entry to University courses. • Level 3 students create a programme of study involving 3 or 4 Level 3 courses, and if needed an Enrichment Course to fill gaps in qualifications or experience.

What happens next…? • Open Evening Wednesday 6th October • Taster Day for current Ashfield Year 11 students Tuesday 12th October • Application Window 1 Tuesday 12th October – Friday 5th November • Post-16 Pathways for current Ashfield Year 11 students w/b Monday 8th November • Letters sent to all parents of Ashfield Year 11 students with details of Post-16 intentions before Christmas • Application Window 2 17th January – 18th February • Enrolment Day July 2011 date TBD – confirm places • GCSE results Day – confirm results for conditional offers • Start of term September 8th 2011

  8. Life in Post-16 Tutor – all about progress & support achieved through mentoring, monitoring and helping students reach their next step destinations. Induction – 4 weeks compulsory tutor for Y12 students whilst they settle in and get help with the transition from GCSE before a flexi-programme operates. Differences – No Uniform, Common Room, Flexibility & Tailor-Made facilities.

  9. Life in Post 16 (continued): Opportunities-Student Management Team elected reps of the students, enrichment including work placements and extra curricular activities.
