  11. ICD-10 Delay Update • On April 1, 2014, Congress enacted a law that delayed the implementation of ICD-10. • MaineCare distributed a listserv on July 25, 2014 containing information on CMS’s interim ruling on the ICD-10 implementation date and MaineCare’s response. • CMS has recently released a final ruling to confirm that October 1, 2015 will be the official date for the ICD-10 implementation. • Now that this final rule has been issued, it is critical that providers continue preparing for ICD-10 in order to be ready for the transition.  • Given the ICD-10 compliance delay, pilot testing is now targeted for spring 2015.

  12. ICD-10 Provider Resources Both MaineCare and CMS have developed a variety of resources containing information on ICD-10 for providers. • MaineCare’s ICD-10 website contains ICD-10 related resources: • ICD-10 Background • ICD-10 FAQs • PAG/TAG Meeting Materials • Regional Forum Presentation and Recording • Provider Type Specific Presentations • MaineCare also encourages providers to access CMS resources about ICD-10 on the CMS Provider Resources webpage. • Examples of resources for providers include the following tools: • Online ICD-10 Implementation Guide – Roadmap and tools for transitioning to ICD-10 for small, medium, and large providers • ICD-10 Coding Basics – Video describing the differences between ICD-9 and ICD-10, including how to determine appropriate codes in ICD-10 • Talking to Your Vendors About ICD-10: Tips for Medical Practices – Tip sheet for discussing ICD-10 readiness with vendors
