INTRODUCTION The geographical area of this Panchayat Samiti is 1163.35 SQ Mile.This Block started functioning as Pilot Project Block with effect from 01.10.1961 under the management of non-official body i.e. Akhila Bharat Seva Sangha till 31.3.1963. The State Government took over its management with effect from 01.04.1963. It is functioning as post stage-II block from 1.10.1971. The Block spread over an area of 1163.35 Sqr. Miles.qr. Miles having 226 revenue and 377 Hamlet villages consisting of 16 G.Ps. As per 2001 Census, the total population of this Panchayat Samiti is 91,419 out of which S.C. 11,343 ST 51,400 and OC 28,676.  The Block touches the boundary of Jeypore block and Lamataput block in the East, Chattisgarh State in West, Kundra Block in the North and Malkangiri Dist. in the South. The total cultivable area of this block is 33.236.245 Hect. The classified land position is given below: • Total Population : 91419 (As per 2001 Census) • SC : 11343 • ST : 51400 • OC : 28676 • No. of Revenue village : 226 • No. of Hamlet village : 377 • No. of Total house hold : 26080 (As per 2002 survey) • No. of BPL families : 19779 (As per 1997 survey) • No. of APL families : 4258 (As per 1997 survey)

Creation of Irrigation Potential • As per instructions of Govt. communicated, steps have been taken to create Irrigation Potential for 35% Agricultural land of this Block. 107 Nos of Water Bodies and Water Harvesting Structures with an Estt. Cost of Rs.391.00 lakhs have been sanctioned to this Block , besides other works.

Demonstration of a project under Water Harvesting Structure • The details of the project Construction of W.H.S. & F.C. at Uppargunji village of Mohuli G.P. – • Name of the G.P. : Mohuli • Name of the Village : Uppargunji • Name of the Work : Construction of W.H.S.& f.c. at Uppargunji. • Estimated Cost : 4.00 lakhs • (N.R.E.G.S. Rs.1.18+ B.K.B.K. Rs.2.82)

The details of the village. • No.of House Hold : 138 • No.of persons Registered: 302 • Extent of Land available: Ac.1028.10 • Cultivable land : Ac.165.36 • This village is situated in Hilly area of this Block where of water available in this village • A few cultivable land is available & Dongor Paddy was being cultivated traditionally by the habitants of this village. The Perinial source of water available could not be lifted and utilised for agriculture purpose • Hence this project has been planned to cater the need of the people of this locality to facilitate Irrigation to their land. • This project has been taken upby dovetailing the BKBK fund sanctioned to this Block.

  13. MGNREGA /BKBK PROJECT 2008-09 PROJECT Project Name - Construction of W.H.S and F.C at upper Gunji of Mohuli G.P. Name of the G.P. - Mohuli G.P. Scheme - NREGA/BKBK 2008-09 (P. S. Share) Estd. Cost - 4.00 Lakhs Mandays Generated - 1778 Benefit of Project - The water harvesting structure constructed at upper Gunji create a water body to reserve water and irrigating highland as well as lowland. the stored water is possibly irrigating an area of 50 acres . The reserved water is also used for the cattle's and the villagers.

  14. MGNREGA 2008-09 Project • Project Name - Construction of field channel at Maliguda of Mohuli G.P. • Name of the G.P. - Mohuli • Scheme - NREGA /BKBK 2008-09 (P. S. Share) • Estd. Cost - 5.00 Lakhs • Mandays Generated - 2411 • Benefit of Project - Providing Irrigation to the local tribal farm lands which covers an ayacut area of 50 acres where the local tribal farmers used the land for production of vegetables and paddy irrigation.

  15. MGNREGA 2008-09 Project Project Name - Completion of incomplete road with ghat cutting from lenja to Sukriguda of Mohuli G.P. Name of the G.P. - Mohuli Scheme - NREGA 2008-09 (P. S. Share) Estd. Cost - 5.00 Lakhs Mandays Generated - 5556 Benefit of Project - The village lenja comes under Mohuli G.P is isolated from the other part of G.P being the geographical barriers. Which was an interior pocket of Mohuli G.P. After implementation of MGNREGA the village is accessible now connects the most villages of neighboring Lamtaput Block. The villagers are now getting their better privilege to contact the road point and getting more facilities direct from the Mohuli G.P this is a life line road project.

  16. Project Name - Construction of poultry farming and ground nut cultivation at Minarbali . Name of the G.P. - Doraguda Scheme - SGSY 2007-08 Estd. Cost - 4.69 Lakhs Mandays Generated - 1743 Benefit of Project -This project was started under SGSY poverty allevation according to the will of the villagers during the year 2007-08. the programme is initiated only by male SHG members of doragud G.P. belong to tribal community. After inception of the project it meets the meat requirement of local People.

  17. Project Name - Construction of Training-cum-production centre at Boipariguda. Name of the G.P. - Boipariguda Scheme - SHG 2008-09 Estd. Cost - 15.00 Lakhs Mandays Generated - 6666 Benefit of Project - All though SHG groups have been formed all over the block due to want of proper training their skilled development is far from satisfaction. Thus it was highly essential to have a training centre at the Block level. The training centre can accommodate around 200 nos of trainees at a home in a A/C room where their activities can be scrutinized and skill can be upgraded. This is one of the beautiful building constructed by the panchayat samiti Boipariguda.
