  3. Visitors in Building • All visitors must sign in and obtain a visitor’s pass if you will be going beyond the office or office lobby. • For safety and security reasons, we ask that all who enter the school please remove sunglasses and hats.

  4. In the side lot only Yellowed line fire lane for drop offs (kiss and go) and pick ups only – No waiting or watching enter zone Between 8:20 and 8:45am students being dropped off enter through the 2nd door. Parking

  5. Teacher Visitations • Before or after school by appointment • Students and staff only are permitted in the classroom areas from 8:05 AM – 3:30 PM • Teachers will return phone calls, many will also utilize email

  6. P.T.O Our students need YOU!!!! First Event: Meet and Greet at Rita’s in Stroudsburg: 5:00 – 8:00 PM Please take a few moments to read the PTO information located in your orientation folder.

  7. Dropping off and Picking Up Your Child Up From School • Send a note • During the day, sign outs are conducted in the office • Meet students in the office lobby • Do not pick up your child in the bus loading zone • Everyone must always provide a government issued photo I.D. • If you are bringing your child to school and parking, please use a designated area • Afternoon pick up – parents may enter the building at 3:15pm. • Dismissal sign outs (for daily pick ups) are conducted at the Welcome Desk

PTO • Strong, positive parent involvement = Greater student success at home, school and in life! • How can you be involved? • Connect with the teacher and school on Class Dojo • Attend parent trainings and informational presentations • Attend school events provided to parents and students • Volunteer to help in the classroom • Seek out opportunities to assist the PTO • Just ask and we will find a way to be involved that works with your schedule!

  10. Morning Arrivals • Students may wait in the Cafeteria • Students may be dropped off after 8:20 AM • Supervised from 8:20 AM –8:35AM • Students and Staff only beyond the office hallway • Breakfast from 8:20 – 8:40 AM (any arrivals after 8:35 will receive a bagged breakfast) • Late arrivals must be signed in at the Welcome Desk – students must be walked in • Late arrival – anytime after 8:45 AM

  11. Correspondence and Homework Request • Please remember to check your child’s folder on a daily basis. • Call prior to 12:00 pm • May be picked up between 3:30 and 4:15 pm • May be sent home with another student.

Absences • Call in the morning if your child will be out sick and to request homework (homework requests are taken prior to 12:00pm) • Homework will be available for pick up after 3:15 PM • An excuse must be provide within 3 calendar days of the child’s return – after 3 days the absence is considered unexcused • Excused absences/Unexcused • All vacations must be approved 10 school days in advance – vacations during state and district testing times are not approved and vacations during the first 5 days of school are not approved

  14. How do I know if the school received my child’s excuse? It is the parent’s responsibility to check his/her child’s folders, backpacks, etc. for an excuse receipt. If you do not see the receipt please contact the school office the next day.

  15. Office Emergency Card It is extremely important that this card is kept updated . Please write or call with any changes Inclement weather instructions are on the back of the office card.

  16. Afternoon Pick-ups • Send in a note • Unexpected need to pick-up your child: Please be here by 3:10 PM – if running late, please call • Daily pick ups may enter the building at 3:15pm. • No note – child must take the bus

  17. Emergency Contact Numbers • LOCAL PHONE NUMBERS ARE VERY IMPORTANT! • ADVISE IF THERE IS A CHANGE IN PHONE NUMBER • Only individuals on the emergency card are authorized to pick up a child.

  18. PSSA/MAP/DIBELS Testing MAP and DIBELS testing occurs 3 times a year. PSSA testing Grades 3-8 • English Language Arts: Week of April 15, 2019 • Mathematics: Week of April 29, 2019 • Science Week of April 29, 2019 (Grades 4 and 8 only) • *Vacation requests are not granted during district and state testing.

  19. Arts Integration • Arts Integration • Enhance upon each student’s understanding of the arts • Utilize the arts to address the varying abilities and learning modalities of the students

Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtII) • Regular education process • Tier 1 – All students receive interventions, as necessary in their core instruction • Tier 2 – Students needing some additional intervention in a specific area (during I/E) • Tier 3 – Increased time and intensity of intervention in a specific area (during I/E) • Mrs. Ammerman – MTSS/RtII Facilitator.   21. Intervention/Enrichment (I/E) Period • Purpose is to provide smaller group research-based interventions to Tier 2 and 3 students • Enrichment in area of reading, writing, etc. • K-2: 2:30 – 3:10 PM each day • 3rd-5th Grade: 9:00 – 9: 40 AM(days 2 - 5)

  22. Schedule • 8:45: Attendance/Warm Ups/Mindfulness Activity • 8:55: Instruction for I/E, Math, ELA, Science and Social Socials, specials (PE, Health, Art, Library, General Music) • Begins • Math: 75 mins. daily; ELA: 120 mins. daily (grades K-2) and 90 mins. daily (grades 3-5) • Specials: 35 min. • Lunch: 30 minutes • Recess: 15 minutes • Dismissal begins at 3:15 PM

  23. Attendance and Dismissal • Instructional Hours: • 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM • Please do not send children early (Breakfast begins at 8:20. Students arriving after 8:40 will be given a bagged breakfast to take to the classroom). • Please phone the school if you are going to belate picking up your child.

  24. Sapphire – Parent Portal • Used for: • Report Cards • Discipline Information • School Announcements • Attendance Information • Documents/letters

  25. Special Education Services • If your child has a current IEP, please make sure our School Counselors (Mrs. Hansen or Mrs. Krammes) have a copy.

  26. Snacks • Healthy snacks encouraged (no nuts/peanuts) Additional specifics in from individual teachers will be forthcoming due to allergies • Celebrations: foods must be individually wrapped (from the store) with the ingredients clearly marked • Birthdays are quick treats only (5 min. maximum). You may order a Birthday Basket from Food Service • Only one item is permitted with sugar as the first ingredient) per celebration
