  8. How To Read Your Class Schedule

  9. To view your schedule you must log onto CUNYfirst account. If you need assistance please contact the help desk: 718-631-6348

  10. REMEDIAL COURSES • A required investment in your college success. • MUST be completed prior to taking college credit courses. • NO college credit but they count as “equated credits”.

  11. How long will it take to get my degree? • IT IS UP TO YOU!!!! You need 60 credits for your associates degree. This is HALF of your bachelors degree. • Most courses are worth 3 or 4 credits. You can take summer or winter courses to graduate earlier.

  12. Tutoring & Resources for Success ALL Tutoring Services are FREE!! Utilize these resources if you are having any difficulties in your classes.

  13. TUITION PAYMENT If You Register:Your Bill Must Be Paid By: Through June 25, 2012 July 11, 2012 June 26th – August 6thAugust 20, 2012 WARNING!!! Once you register, you are liable for ALL tuition & fees shown on your bill. If you DO NOT pay your bill or DO NOT go to class – you are STILL financially liable for all charges. To completely cancel your registration, you must CONTACT YOUR FRESHMAN COORDINATOR BEFORE the START of the semester.

  14. Tuition Effective FALL 2012 Residents of New York City who are: Full Time (Minimum of 12 credits/equated credits) = $1,950.00 Don’t forget FEES!! Part Time (Less than 12 credits) = $165.00 per credit See Admissions webpage for further details.

  15. Residency Information Residency information is used to determine whether a student is eligible for the in-state tuition rate. Go to www.qcc.cuny.edu/Bursar/Residency.asp to find out if you qualify for the in-state tuition rate. • CHECK YOUR TUITION PRIOR TO PAYING TO MAKE SURE THE AMOUNT IS CORRECT!!!! • For all other Residency inquiries: • go to the Admissions Office Room 210

  16. FINANCIAL AID Deadline to apply was: June 4th 2012 ACT NOW!!!! APPLY IMMEDIATELY Be prepared to pay your Tuition Bill….Financial Aid more than likely will not be fully processed by your Tuition Due Date.   22. CUNYfirst Steps to NAVIGATE through CUNYfirst and access your Student Center.

  23. View Fall 2012 Class Schedule. Future semesters this is where you will register yourself for classes.

  24. Tuition Bill and Due Date will be posted in this section. It is NOT mailed to your home. Make sure tuition bill is CORRECT prior to making a payment.

  25. TIGERMAIL Your QCC Email Account • Receive notices from QCC • Communicate with your professors • Communicate with your Freshman Coordinator

  26. CUNY Portal: Blackboard • The CUNY portal login is found on the CUNY.EDU website • Blackboard will be used in some of your classes • If your class is using Blackboard you will be able to view your assignments and any messages from that professor online.

  27. E-Portfolio • E-portfolio is found in Epsilen • E-portfolio is your own personal Website. It represents YOU. • You will be able to build your e-portfolio over time! • Some professors may use this in the classroom. • Used to store and display your work. • Papers • Resume • Certificates, licenses, and awards • At the end of your time at Queensborough, you will be able to look at your successes on your E-Portfolio. • Will be discussed further in Technology Workshop.

My Action Plan (MAP) Your guide to your future: • Think about what you want to study and why. • Understand how long it will take you to complete your degree. • Visit this plan in your first semester (ST100 class) • Use program information to stay on the right track • Will begin MAP in the Technology Workshop today.

ST – 100 COURSE (PNET) What is ST-100? • Informative and interactive freshman course designed to introduce new students to QCC. • Partially online course(PNET). • 10 class sessions; 5 lessons in the classroom(once a week) and 5 lessons will be assigned via online work. MUST BE COMPLETED within the 5 week period. • MANDATORY course for all first time full time freshman students. • A passing grade is REQUIRED. • If you do not complete the course, you will be required to repeat the course resulting in DELAYED REGISTRATIONfor the following semester.

FRESHMEN FIRST • Second Part of Orientation - MANDATORY • Major Specific – Break out into Academy specific groups. • Opportunity to meet professors in your major • Discuss career opportunities in your field. • Receive Photo ID card Thursday, August 23rd . Location & Times will be emailed to your Tigermail account in August.
