Punnett Square • Phenotype : This is the "outward, physical manifestation" of the organism. • Genotype : The genotype refers to the entire set of genes in a cell, an organism, or an individual • Homozygous refers to having identical alleles for a single trait • Heterozygous refers to having two different alleles for a single trait.

  3. Punnett Square: Practice Problems • A set of parents think their baby was switched at the hospital. The mother is heterozygous A the father has homozygous B and the baby has blood type A. Could these be the baby’s parent?

  4. Blood Probability Problems To determine the probability of a person with a particular combination of blood types, change the percentage to fractions and find their product and then multiply them. What is the probability of someone having AB+, M?

  5. Blood Typing Simulation We will be determining blood types using Anti-A serums, Anti-B serums, and Anti-RH serums. Clumping = + (Positive) No Clumping = - (Negative) Agglutination is clumping together (usually referring to blood cells).
