  1. Completing your Production Log

  2. Planning review & Mid project review Page 8 Planning review • You should complete this page during or after your meeting with your supervisor to discuss your project’s approval (the return of page 7). Your supervisor may ask you to complete the first question in preparation for your meeting. If you do not complete the page during your meeting you should ensure that your supervisor sees (and initials) the page and has the opportunity to comment before you proceed too far with your work. Page 9 Mid-project review • You should complete this page during or after this major meeting with your supervisor to discuss your progress and the project production. Your supervisor will agree with you the appropriate point to hold this ‘mid-project review’ but it is likely to be when you have completed most of your research and/ or preparatory work and before commencing the writing of your report or any other final production. It is at this meeting that you will confirm aims for your final project product (which may have changed from your initial proposal - in title or form - as your work developed) and discuss provision of any additional assessment evidence that your supervisor may suggest. You may also wish to discuss plans for your final presentation. If you do not complete the page during your meeting you should ensure that your supervisor sees your record and has the opportunity to comment before you proceed too far towards completing your work.

  3. End of project review & Summary Page 10 End of project review • You should complete this page during or after your meeting with your supervisor when you are at or near the completion of your project product. If you do not complete the page during your meeting you should ensure that your supervisor sees your record and has the opportunity to comment before final submission. Page 11 Summary • When you have completed your project product you should complete this page as a formal ‘abstract’ of your written report. If your report accompanies work in another form you should add a brief outline description relating your additional product to the ideas in your written report.

  4. Presentation records & Reflection Page 12 Presentation record (Part A) • This page forms a record of your planning for your presentation. You should complete it as you prepare and rehearse. It is important that you discuss the practicalities and organisation of your presentation with your supervisor. Page13 Presentation record (Part B) • This page is for completion by your supervisor. You should have it completed and returned to you soon after your presentation. Page 14 Reflection • This page should be completed after all your project work and the presentation have been completed. You may also have had a final celebratory meeting with your supervisor. Here is your opportunity to reflect on all that you have learned - both about the specific issues and content of your project and about project management in general and the skills that you have developed. When you have completed this page you should follow your supervisor's instructions for the collation of your work, completion of Page 1, and final submission for assessment.

  6. Extended Project Qualification - Timeline July September November January/February March June START OF PROJECT MID PROJECT Project is advertised to existing Y12 students. END OF PROJECT Having thoroughly explored their chose area, students have a review meeting with their supervisor. Their working title will now be focused to a more detailed research question. It is permissible to make quite large changes to the initially proposed idea at this point. The meeting should give the student the opportunity to reflect upon the process so far and to outline the changes to their proposed working title. Students begin project. All students attend an initial planning meeting with the centre co-ordinator to discuss possible titles and to go through the spec, deadlines etc. At this stage students have submitted proposal forms which have been approved or asked to be re-submitted. Students are underway with their research and use the guided learning hours in school to research. Fortnightly meetings with the supervisor. At this stage, students should have more or less finished their final product. Taught sessions by the co-ordinator will ensure that students are happy with their final piece of writing and that they are confident about the end product. Students should also start to plan their final presentation to take place at the end of March. Students have completed their projects, and have had final end of project review meetings with their supervisor. Presentations take place in front of the L6. This is a time for students to assess their progress and reflect upon what they have learned, successes and failures etc. Projects are submitted for assessment by the supervisor and internal standardisation before being submitted for moderation to the exam board.
