  4. Know Your Goals Before You Plan Goal--attend a 4 year college or university? Goal--attend a 2 year community college? Goal--enter the workforce or military immediately upon graduating from high school? All Goals Lead Toward a Career…Plan a pathway to achieve the goal. (all goals will require education and proper planning.)

  6. Graduation Requirements: 4 credits of English 4 credits of Math 4 credits of Science 4 credits of Social Studies 2 credits of Foreign Language ½ credit of Health 1 credit of PE ½ credit of Speech 1 credit of Fine Arts 5 credits of Electives TOTAL: 26

  7. English: 4 Credits English I or English I PreAP English II or English II PreAP English III or English III AP English IV, English IV AP, or English IV CN (Dual Credit)

  8. Math: 4 Credits Algebra I or Algebra 1 PreAP Geometry or Geometry PreAP Math Models Algebra 2 or Algebra 2 H/GT PreCalculus or PreCalculus H/GT AP Calculus AB AP Calculus BC AP Statistics

  9. Science: 4 Credits Biology or Biology PreAP IPC Chemistry or Chemistry PreAP Physics or Physics H/GT (only available through 2013-14 school year) AP Physics I (new for 2014-15, this is the old Physics H/GT) AP Physics II (new for 2014-15) AP Physics C AP Biology AP Chemistry AP Environmental Science Anatomy and Physiology Aquatic Science

  10. Social Studies: 4 Credits World Geography or World Geography PreAP World History orWorld History AP U.S. History or APU.S. History Government or AP Government Economics or AP Micro/Macroeconomics

  11. World Language: 2 Credits • Both credits must be in the same language • Languages offered at AHS: • Spanish • French • Sign Language

  12. Health: 1/2 Credit 1/2 credit Health Education or 1 credit Principles of Health Science Speech: 1/2 Credit • Communication Applications

  13. Physical Education: 1 Credit • 1.0 physical education PE Substitutions (earn up to 4 credits) • Athletics • Marching Band-1st semester only • Cheerleading • JROTC • Dance PE • Angels

  14. Fine Arts: 1 Credit • Must be full credit of one of the following • Choir • Band • Orchestra • Dance • Art • Theatre Arts • AP Music Theory (ability to read/write music required 11- 12 only) • Music History H (11-12 only) • AP Art History (11-12 only)

  15. Electives: 5 Credits • Can choose any 5.0 credits of classes from any area • If they are in addition to what is required, they are considered an elective. • Ex. 3rd year of a foreign language or 5th year of science

  16. Have I met all of the graduation requirements?If not, revise your plan. • Is my counselor responsible for my plan or am I? The student and parents are responsible for the 4 year plan w/ Counselor assistance. This is your career and life…we’re here to assist but you must take ownership of your plans. • What if I change my mind? There will be a limited time frame each year during course selection for you to make changes…but be careful!!! Changes will be detrimental as you get to 11th/12th grades. Stay on track and stick to your plans for a timely graduation. • How often should I do a plan like this?One time per year during course selection your counselor’s will review this with you. This plan will help you keep track of what you’ve taken and need to take each year of high school to receive your endorsements and diploma. 4 Year Planning Ask yourself the following questions…
