  2. An everyday problem …. We produce 18,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste (MSW) daily. After recovery and recycling, 9000 tonnes of MSW are disposed of at our landfills 2

Opportunities for Testing and Certification • Need more local testing and certification services, especially for emerging/new products • Examples of green specifications: • LED lamp: maximum concentration of lead: 0.1% by weight • Chair: plastic parts should not contain lead, Chromium, Cadmium, Mercury • Carpet:Emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) should not exceed 0.5 mg/m2 per hour www.epd.gov.hk 8
