  1. How Tall Is It? : The Director’s Stand Jessica Mena, Austin Coker, Sarah Alyce Hartley, Scott Williams 5th Period March 9

  2. 15° Angle-Scott • Tan15=x/74 .28=x/74 x=19.38 • 19.38ft+5.17ft=24.55ft 5.17 ft 15° 74 feet

  3. 60° Angle-Jessica • Tan60=x/12 1.73=x/12 x=20.78 • 20.78+5.33=26.11ft • L.leg=12√3 = 20.78 • 20.78 + 5.33 = 26.11ft 5.33 feet 60° 12 feet

  4. 30˚ Angle – Austin • Tan 30˚ = x/34ft • 0.58 = x/34 • X=19.63 • 19.63 + 5.75 = 25.38 • S.Leg = 34ft/√3 • Height = 34√3 / 3 • Short leg = 19.63 • 19.63 + 5.75 = 25.38 5.75 feet 34 feet

  5. 45° Angle - Sarah Alyce • Tan 45 = x/18 • 1 = x/18 • X = 18 • 5.17 + 18 = 23.17 ft • Leg=Leg • 18 + 5.17 = 23.17 ft 5.17 feet 18 Feet

  6. Conclusion • Average height = 24.8 feet • We learned that trigonometry is a very valuable tool and not just something you learn in math. It is very useful when dealing with a very tall object.
