  1. What is good and what is evil? Mark 3:20-30

  2. Introduction • A scene where Jesus’ family comes to see Him • Scribes of Jerusalem join in

  3. Narrative Points • Jesus’ family did not believe in Him (His own people = family) • Odd thing because of what Mary was told by Gabriel – wait - Mark’s Gospel does not have that story. See how the presentation of Jesus changes • So, Jesus has to prove who He was even to family • Scribes of Jerusalem join the family against Jesus

  4. Biblical Culture • Beelzebub – was considered the Prince of the House of Devils • Jesus called him the “Lord of Dung” • Who was the “strong man?” • What is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? Attributing evil to the LORD

  5. For Us Today • A house divided cannot stand – for the church to survive, we must learn to work together and honor our differences • Do not call someone evil because they have a different opinion than you • One must come to understand people who think differently • We have to remember the true goal of Christianity – make disciples & educate them
