Apply to CSULA - Minimum GPA of 2.5 on last 90 quarter/60 semester units if graduate student/2.0 if undergraduate - Official transcripts Apply to the CCOE - Minimum GPA for all students is 2.75 on last 90 quarter/60 semester units - Make copies of all documents submitted to the CCOE GETTING STARTED

  3. APPLICATION TO THE CCOE • One-page application • Credential Control Card • Technology Proficiency Statement • Philosophy of Education (grammar and content necessary – should not exceed two pages & be double-spaced) • Letters of Recommendation • TB test • Transcripts • Valid Certificate of Clearance • Attempt of CBEST (All 3 sections) OR alternative FOR MULTIPLE SUBJECT CANDIDATES: • Attempt of Multiple Subjects CSET (First 3 sections) for graduate or non-blended undergraduates only

  4. CBEST ALTERNATIVE FOR MULTIPLE SUBJECT CANDIDATES ONLY: If a student has passed all 4 sections of the Multiple Subjects: CSET, he/she may waive out of the CBEST

  5. PREREQUISITES • EDCI 300 • EDFN 413 • Public Speaking (COMM 150 or 151) • HS 457 (1 unit) or HS 456 (4 units) • Writing Proficiency Exam (UNIV 400)

  6. PREREQUISITES WHICH MAY BE TAKEN EARLY • HS 457 or HS 456 • EDSP 400 • Public Speaking Course • U.S. Constitution Course • Single Subject Waiver Courses • Math 110 for Multiple Subject Students

  7. Formal Admission • Completion of Prerequisite Requirements • Increase in Graduate Student Financial Aid • Option for Grads to Become Interns • Ability to Proceed to Block 1 • Multiple Subjects: CSET must be passed for multiple subject graduates and non-blended undergraduates

ELIGIBILITY FOR BLOCK 4 • All single subject and multiple subject candidates need to have met subject matter competency (single subject – CSET or classes) • CBEST must be passed • All coursework prior to student teaching must be completed and passed with an overall GPA in education courses of 3.0 • Courses may not be older than seven years • New TB test

  14. PROGRAM COMPLETION • U.S. Constitution • RICA passage (for multiple subject candidates only) • CCTC Credential Application • CPR card (infant, child and adult CPR)

  15. THINGS TO REMEMBER • 3.0 GPA must be maintained in credential coursework • Classes expire in 7 years • CSET and RICA expire in five years – CBEST does not expire • You may inquire about BCLAD emphases – CLAD equivalent is imbedded in your credential • Students MUST reapply as graduate students if B.A. is posted at any time before or during the program • Cohorts cannot be broken • No grades lower than “C” are accepted
