Social Studies Teacher Marian Pontz Coordinates "How Can I Change the World" forum for Students in her World Cultures Classes • The "How Can I Change the World" forum included speakers from non-governmental and governmental organizations, whose directive is to improve the world.  The two-hour forum allowed students to learn about ways they can help others and in turn, enrich their own lives.  The following speakers presented at the forum: • Kevin Bales, author of Disposable People, and president of freetheslaves.net. • Justin Bredeman, director of development for Hope International (microfinance in developing nations). • Douglas Dirk, director of public relations at Ten Thousand Villages. • Jen Fisher, an organizer for Lancaster's first Alternative Gift Fair. • Tom and Sarah Murphy, Peace Corps volunteers in Thailand. • Stephanie Kessler of the Community First Fund, an organization that provides microloans for Lancaster citizens. • Nancy Keel from Americorps Vista, the national service organization that fights poverty. • Debra Christoffel, public relations coordinator for the Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center. • Deidre Foley Citro, executive director of Mom's House. • Kathleen Wenglanz, a volunteer from the American Red Cross. • Following the forum, a few CV students who won essay contests had the opportunity to eat lunch with the presenters at the Belvedere Inn, courtesy of the restaurant and Fine Living Lancaster magazine.
