  2. What have we done this year……..

  3. New TJ Brochures developed • New professional Newsletters mailed home 4 times this year • Parent Write Night • Read/Write Night • Math Night

  4. SRI scores • SRI scores- 598 increased 100 points • Reading now at or above reading level

  5. GO teachers • Pat on the back program to recognize staff • ECE re-valuations were in compliance by December 1st

  6. Patriot Award for support and leadership from the Louisville Patriot Football League

  7. The GE/ Louisville Science Grant in which all of our 7th graders got to attend the center and the center got to come to us.

  8. DADS in Education Program • Piloted a Teach to Reach Program

  9. Partnership with WHAS!!! • And Development of Broadcast Communications Curriculum in collaboration with Fern Creek High school and WKU

  10. Re-Building the Empire • All SBDM policies are in place • Attained N.I.C.E. certification this year • Rebuilt PTSA – paid down a huge debt; doubled # of members

  11. Bringing the Heat • Implemented Safety Resource Officer program at TJ • Participated in the KDE Classroom Reflective Tool Pilot

  12. TECHNOLOGY • Added $140,000 of tech to bldg • New website and newer site to come full of teacher resources and lesson plans!!!

  13. The Money….. • Aegon Grant – STLP with this grant State recognition of our program here a t TJ. • Best Buys Communications Grant • 3M Salute to Schools/AASL – new library coding system

  14. Intervention program developed for 25+ at-risk boys involving field trips and motivational speakers • UofL Multidisciplinary Literacy Grant

  15. New student Activities • Lend-a-Hand Club • Literacy Steppers • STLP class • Softball

  16. PORTFOLIOS • Portfolios – 10% decrease in novice and 3% increase in proficient/distinguished • FMD Alternate Portfolios – 2 distinguished and a proficient!!!

  17. Assessment • Classroom Assessment System effectively implemented school-wide – we were the most consistent and effective users district-wide! • CTBS scores increased across the board • CATS math scores increased

  18. GO GIRLS • Cheerleading: 2004 National Champions, AGAIN!!!!!

  19. Magnet • COMMUNICATIONS Recognition: A highlight of our school is its award-winning Communications Magnet. The Communications Magnet shares an educational partnership with WHAS11. This year the Communications Magnet and WHAS11 unveiled a new banner that hangs in front of the school announcing their formal partnership.

  20. Best Buy TEACH Grant – This $2,500 grant was used to purchase 4 digital video cameras for the Communications Magnet, as well as many other materials for the magnet program.

  21. STATE AWARDS • Student Technology Leadership: State Recognized Student Technology School; Student Technology Leadership Award- State Showcase Project 2004.

  22. Orchestra: Eight Distinguished Student Awards at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble Festival. Twenty-one Proficient Student Awards were earned at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble Festival.

  23. Band: 3 Distinguished Solo Awards at the KMEA Solos Event; 3 Proficient Solo Awards, 3 Proficient Ensembles and 4 Distinguished Ensembles. The 7th grade band earned a “Proficient” overall while the 8th grade band earned a “Distinguished” overall.

  24. Implementation of Champs and Foundations • Orderly Hallways • Revised Cafeteria procedures • Explicit team instruction • Voice Meter • Consistent incentive plans
