  2. AVIDMission Statement AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

  3. Expectations • Participate in a minimum of one extracurricular activity • Participate in 25 hours per year of community service • Complete a minimum of 1 Honors/AP course each year • Contribute to the philosophy/success of the AVID Program

  4. How do I stay in AVID? • 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale • “B” or better in AVID • No major discipline referrals

College Field Trips “Tentative Schedule” Fall Semester Rice University (4 year Private University) and the University of Houston – Main Campus (4 year Public University) Spring Semester Stephen F. Austin University (4 year Public University) in Nacogdoches, TX and Angelina College (2 year Public College) in Lufkin, TX

  12. Fees/Eligibility • Cost is $2 per student per field trip for transportation plus additional funds for meals and souvenirs • Transportation payment due 2 weeks prior to each field trip • Students must have a minimum grade of 75 in each class, “NO” N’s or U’s in conduct, and 3 or less absences on the 1st report card to attend the Fall college visit and on the 3rd report card to attend the Spring college visit
