What is the Diploma Online? • The Diploma in Italian Online is open to everybody and is designed for those who have no previous knowledge of the language.  It is particularly suited to those who need flexibility in their time and mode of study and/or live away from Galway. • Unlike many distance learning programmes designed for independent learning, this Diploma Course is based on a collaborative and communicative approach with constant interaction with peers and e-tutors. Designed for Features: Course designed and delivered by experienced native e-tutors Online conversation sessions Online classes Online language laboratory activities for pronunciation and intonation Weekly discussion boards Three on-campus sessions per semester The course is delivered through Blackboard Virtual Learning Environment and is also accessible from mobile devices

Learn Italian The structure of the course allows for flexibility in scheduling for students who wish to add a University Certificate to their Bachelor Degree. • Learning outcomes: • Learn Italian specific to your professional field • Develop intercultural and linguistic competence • Develop an understanding of the Italian Tourism, Food & Beverage sector • Learn to communicate effectively in Italian through interaction, conversations and collaborative work with your peers and e-tutors.

Structure of the course • Italian Language Skills Level 1 – • Part 1 (Sem. 1 – 5 ECTS) • Italian Language Skills 2 Level 1 – • Part 1 (Sem. 2 – 5 ECTS) • Oral and Intercultural Skills Level 1 • (Sem. 1&2 – 5 ECTS) Organization Year 1 Year 2 • Italian Language Skills Level 2 – Part 1 (Sem. 1 – 5 ECTS) • Italian Language Skills 2 Level 2 – Part 2 (Sem. 2 – 5 ECTS) • Oral and Intercultural Skills Level 2 (Sem. 1&2 – 5 ECTS) • Lecture packages will be delivered weekly online, they will include comprehension tasks, individual and group work and intercultural aspects. • There will be group lessons each semester, held in different formats: • Three Online classes with e-tutors using an online collaboration platform • Three Skype conversation classes with e-tutors and peers • Three on-campus classes in The National University of Ireland, Galway (held on Saturdays)
