  1. MEL STEELE - BOSTON SECURITY SPECIALIST Mel Steele of Boston is the Chief of Administration for 1st Armor Protection Services, using his twelve years of experience as a police officer dealing with some of Boston’s toughest streets. Steele is especially known for his reliance on active listening and his work as a community-based police officer, working with community leaders and youth to make the streets of Boston safer.

  2. Keeping the Streets Safe Mel Steele knows Boston because he was born and raised in the Mattapan area of the city. He attended Westwood High School in nearby Westwood, Massachusetts through the METCO program, which provided kids in the inner-city Boston to experience new scholastic environments in the suburbs. Steele says that he is still grateful for this opportunity because it got him away from the sometimes violent neighborhood he grew up in. Gang Unit Mel Steele of Boston was a police officer in the Gang Unit. The Gang Unit is in charge of keeping tabs on gang activity in the Boston area. Steele, as a member of the Gang Unit, showed unusual courage in his attempts to create better opportunities for the city’s youth. While he was a police officer, Steele showed excellent listening and communication skills, especially with the city’s troubled youth.

  3. Keeping up With the Youth of his Community Mel Steele of Boston became a police officer over twelve years ago. In his distinguished time in Boston as a police officer, he has earned a reputation for excellent community policing. He showed a rare willingness to open communication lines with the community he worked in, exemplified by his inclusion in the Youth Violence Strike Force. True Leader Mel Steele of Boston has always exemplified all of the characteristics of a great leader. In high school, a friend got him to try out for lacrosse, a sport he had never heard of growing up in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston. In a short time, Steele became captain of the lacrosse team and eventually earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Delaware.

  4. Alternative Options Mel Steele of Boston got his degree in Sociology from the University of Delaware, which he attended on an athletic scholarship. He used his degree to help incarcerated youth as a counselor at a prison in Delaware. After that he returned to Boston to join the police force as a member of the Youth Violence Strike Force where he used his skills communicating with children to diffuse many dangerous situations. Able to Reach Troubled Youth Mel Steele of Boston received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Delaware and went to work at the New Castle County Detention Center in Delaware because he wanted to use his degree to help people, not just study them. Steele then used his experience connecting with troubled youth to join the Youth Violence Strike Force as a police officer.
