  10. How to Make a Book Trailer • Items • Flip or other hand-held video cameras • Write-able DVDs and envelopes • Art supplies, toys, props • Optional: flexible mini-tripod • Optional for older children: Windows Movie Maker or free video-editing software

  11. Children select a book to book-talk. • They can hold the book and book-talk. • They can make pictures or use puppets. • They can dress up, make props, or act out a part.

  12. Book Trailer Tips • The librarian (or another child) can use a Flip camera to film the book-talk. • Flip and other mini-cams can also be mounted to a mini-tripod. • Flip uses a USB swivel-arm. No cables! • The video can be burned to a disk for the child to keep.

  13. More Tips • I recommend keeping it simple. • Do it in one take. • Repeat takes as needed. • Avoid editing, unless the child has the skills. • There are free editing programs. Windows Movie Maker is serviceable.

It can be anything from the desire to sing on Broadway to simply wanting to pass that Biology test. • On a white piece of cardboard paper, using the Sharpie, write your wish. • EXAMPLE: “Bam Bam wants to play basketball.”

  18. What Do You Want To Do? • You will need an image that represents your wish. • Want a car? Create a steering wheel. • Studying for an exam? Make a book. • Clemson or USC? Show me your best Tiger Paw or Gamecock. • Take the scissors, and cut an image from a sheet of aluminum foil. • When finished, use the Sharpies to color your image to completion.

  19. Bam Bam and Milagro This is what the Milagro can look like on you, too!
