  3. NEAFCS Endowment • Approved in earlier Strategic Plan • Started in 2004 • Goal is $300,000 • More than 50 people and 12 affiliates with donations over $500 • Currently more than $178,000 donated or pledged by 365 people from 47 states and 28 states affiliates

Whogives • Working poor give higher percentage than middle class or rich • Religious people give more money & time than secularist (beyond churches) • Giving & volunteering improve physical health and mental health • Givers 43% more likely than nongiver to be “very happy” • Givers 25% more likely than nongiver to say health is excellent Arthur Brooke, Who Really Cares

Why give? • Mentor new FCS educators and strengthen the profession. • Champion our profession and its impact in the community. • Create a memorial in honor of a co-worker, friend, family member, or colleague. • Support the profession you believe in • Provide a steady income for quality and permanence to the profession. • Support targeted projects, like awards

  8. NEAFCS Endowment • Step up a Category • Turquoise – Up to $499 • Amethyst - $500-999 • Opal  - $1000-4999 • Sapphire - $5000 - $9999 • Diamond – Over $10,00 (Includes naming rights) The time is always right to do the right thing Martin Luther King, Jr.

  9. States Support NEAFCS Endowment • Choose two or more ideas to do • Set a state goal of $100 per member • Contact your state program leader or director, other Extension professional associations • Personally contact retirees
