  1. CSE3 Fluency with Information Technology (FIT) Asdsa Adventures in Computational Thinking By Tiffany Liao Computational thinking is a new way of solving problems that gets its name because it uses many of the same techniques used by computer science. The term computational thinking was first used by Seymour Papert in 1996. Computational thinking can be used to algorithmically solve complicated problems of scale. Computational thinking is often used to solve problems of efficiency and to realize large improvements in efficiency through novel approaches to problem solving Image Analysis and Manipulation With Photoshop Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program eloped and published by Adobe Systems. In class, we obtained an unedited image of Madonna and used Photoshop to fix the background and touch up the wrinkles on her face. In another instance, e used Photoshop to conduct a “before and after” image of a glacier melt. Computer science or computing science (sometimes abbreviated CS) is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation, and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems.[1][2][3][4] It is frequently described as the systematic study of algorithmic processes that create, describe, and transform information. Computer science has many sub-fields; some, such as computer graphics, emphasize the computation of specific results, while others, such as computational complexity theory, study the properties of computational problems. Computational Thinking Overview Scratch allows its user to design games, conduct animation, and create scripts to allow move- ment. Primarily, it is a computer programming language that allows users to explore and expe- riment with concepts of basic programming with its simple user interface. Visual Programming with Scratch Making Information Available to the World with HTML and WebPages Microsoft Office Excel is a spreadsheet application written and distributed by Microsoft for Microsoft Windows and MAC OS X. It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language called VBA, which stands for Visual Basic for Applications. It has been a very widely applied spreadsheet for these platforms. The current versions are Microsoft Office Excel 2007 for Windows and 2008 for Mac.
