  2. Icelandic Music Culture, past and present • First two generations of Icelanders who emigrated to America • North Dakota and the area around Winnipeg • Calgary, Alberta • INL organized lecture tour – Calgary, Blain, Edmonton, Wynyard, Foam Lake, Winnipeg and Minneapolis

Observations: • Personal contact with Icelandic immigrants of the first and second generation is disappearing • Fewer people speak Icelandic – the cultural of the first generations if immigrants was an Icelandic culture • Important books have been published, detailing people and cultures of particular places • Written records, photographs, sound recordings and other documents, pertaining to this history, can still be found with individuals all over North America

Conclusions: • Individuals and local organizations must search for people who might possess valuable information regarding the arts among the first two generation of Icelandic immigrants • Lögberg and Heimskringla should be read from the beginning up until around 1950 • Local publications (newspapers and book) should likewise be scanned • Music and other artistic achievements should be made published and otherwise been made accessible
