  2. What does the programme involve? • Taught content What? • Programme delivery How? Where? • Students Who? • Assessment What?

  3. How did the programme come about? • Leadership and learning in a community-based context • ECM emphasises the need for agencies to work together • Involving the whole community in learning • Providing community-based learning opportunities • New settings … regeneration, housing, health and justice • Professionals need access to academic opportunities

  4. How does the programme support the delivery of the ECM/ICS agenda? • Enable students to understand and critique ECM and related policies and practice. Not just about ‘good practice’. Aim is to question and make sense of the agenda. • Explore ECM from point of view of different professional services (Schools, Health, Social Services, Criminal Justice System, Voluntary and Community organisations). • Certificate level - implicit • Diploma level - explicit • Masters - tailored research approach

  5. How does the programme fit into Staffordshire University’s wider educational awards? (1) • Education provision at Staffordshire University is located inside the IEPR and across specialist faculties. It is distinctive in three important ways, illustrated by a set of three principles: • We aim to engage only in work that we can do to the highest possible external quality ratings; • We seek to ensure that there are explicit links between our awards and our research, and also to our consultancy/knowledge transfer work • We will grow larger only if quality is maintained and improved.

  6. How does the programme fit into Staffordshire University’s wider educational awards? (2) • We offer a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards – FDTA, FDCL, BA (Maintained and Post Compulsory), PGCE, MA, EdD, PPD • SURF Consortium / LA Partnerships / School Level Partnerships / External Agencies • IEPR (also IAS) - research on widening participation and lifelong learning / workforce remodelling / Teaching Assistants / Professionalism • Commonality across Awards at the same level: • Assessment - Masters Dissertation Framework / common timetable / Research Methods framework • Shared Resources – Staffing / VLE / IEPR Library • Management - Cross representation on award management / design • Approaches to Teaching and Learning
