Starboard Wing • Air intake clear • Fuel gauge check contents • Fuel cap check contents, secure • Leading edge undamaged / serviceable • Wing tip & lights undamaged • Wing surfaces clean / undamaged • Aileron, hinges undamaged / control rod attached • Flap and hinges undamaged • Step and walkway serviceable • Chocks/covers etc stowed Fuel Strainer • Bucket place under strainer drain • Fuel selector off drain 3 seconds • Fuel selector left drain 6-10 seconds • Fuel selector right drain 6-10 seconds • Bucket remove, check for fuel/water • Strainer drain check for leakage 4 – External Checks (continued)

Flight Deck Checks • Parking brake check ON • Entrance doors closed / safety lock, front and aft • Seats & seat backs correct position • Passengers briefed, seat belts • Clock time check • Stopwatch fully wound, check operation • Compass serviceable, check deviation card • Outside air temperature serviceable • Instruments glasses, static check • Fan switch OFF • Circuit breakers all set • Master switch ON • Alternator switch ON • Low volts warning ON • Vac-Oil-Alt lights press to test, all illuminated • Alternate static cock closed • Engine controls freedom / adjust friction / set • Alternate air control freedom / set OFF 29. ! Radio master switch ON • Intercom ON - serviceable • COMM 2 - ATIS/ATC obtain airfield data • Altimeters QNH – elevation check (60 ft) • COMM 2 - ready to start advise ATC 24. ! Radio master switch OFF 5 – Flight Deck Checks

Cabin heater/demist as required 8. ! COMM 1 ATIS obtain latest 9. Altimeters QNH – elevation check (60 ft) 10. ! COMM 1 Request Taxi to run-up area After Start Checks Engine Starting • Area clear check clear prop • Fuel cock select LOWEST tank • Strobe lights ON • Electric fuel pump ON • Throttle set ½” open • Mixture control (if engine cold) rich – fuel flow – I.C.O. 7. ! Radio master switch check OFF • Starter check clear prop, engage • Mixture advance • Throttle set 1000-1200 rpm • Oil pressure rising • Alternator charging • Manifold pressure low • Vacuum gauge above 3" Hg • Low volt light extinguished • Magneto switch live / dead mag check • Electric fuel pump OFF, then ON for all ground ops 6 – Engine Starting and After Start Checks

G.P.S. receiver test Power Checks • Parking brake check ON • Fuel cock CHANGE to highest tank • Pressures & temps acceptable • Propeller control fine / fully forward • Mixture control rich / fully forward • Throttle set 2000 rpm • Throttle friction adjusted as required • Magnetos check (max drop 175 max diff 50) • Propeller/CSU Check exercise, set fully forward • Alternate air effective, then OFF • Vacuum 4.8" to 5.2" Hg • Engine instruments normal • Alternator charging • Electric fuel pump OFF, check fuel flow, ON • Throttle closed 500-700 rpm • Throttle SET 1000-1200 rpm • Manifold pressure line drain 7 – Taxi, Radio and Power Checks

  9. Pre-Takeoff Checks • Charts: SID, re-land, en-route available • A.T.I.S. check latest • Altimeters aerodrome QNH • ATC clearances obtain • Transponder set code • Departure briefing satisfied • Nav aids - comms set • Cabin doors final check, front and aft • Cabin heat/defrost as required • Auto pilot OFF • Trimmers check electric trim, set for take-off • Gear override engage for FL100+ or short field • Flaps set (normal: 0, short: 25) • Controls full and free • Electric fuel pump check ON • Magneto switch BOTH • Engine instruments normal • Alternator charging • Fuel contents sufficient • Propeller control fully forward • Mixture control fully rich • Alternate air check closed • Crew take-off brief completed • Ready for Departure report 8 – Pre-Takeoff Checks

Brakes ON - OFF • Undercarriage below 110 kt +R of C - retract • Flaps retract • Climb power 95 kts set 34" / 2400 rpm • Navigation aids Identify - bearings • Airframe/engine icing check • Altimeter No. 1 (pilot’s) QNH or 1013.2 as reqd No.2. aerodrome QNH • Electric fuel pump >1000' OFF, check pressure • Landing light OFF • SID/SAFETY/MSA altitudes achieved • Pressures & temps check • Above FL140 Electric fuel pump ON After Take-off And Climb Checks 2

Technical Log complete - sign After Landing Checks 8

In-Flight Engine Fire • Mixture I.C.O. • Fuel selector off • Fuel pump off • Magnetos off • Throttle fully open • Cabin heat / defroster closed • Prop stop if possible • Emergency descent full flap, 112 kts If fire stops: • Flaps retract • Undercarriage override ENGAGE • Airspeed 80 kts • Select landing area • Continue with Power Off Landing checklist If fire persists: • Select landing area • Transponder 7700 • ATC Mayday call • Passengers Brief • Seatbelts tight • Undercarriage UP for water, rough terrain otherwise DOWN , 3 greens • Master switch OFF Emergency – Engine Fire 9

  20. In-Flight Engine Failure • If after power reduction Lean until engine restarts Maintain EGT 1350 or above • Undercarriage override ENGAGE • Airspeed Convert into maintaining altitude • Best glide airspeed 80 kts • Select landing area Attempt restart (unless after fire or catastrophic failure): • Electric fuel pump ON • Fuel selector select tank with fuel / switch • Magnetos check BOTH • Throttle cruise setting • Mixture rich • Alternate air OPEN • Magnetos check each magneto • Engine indications check fuel flow, MP, etc. If unsuccessful, continue next page (Power Off Landing checklist) Emergency – Engine Failure 10

Power Off Approach and Landing • Best glide airspeed 80 kts • Prop lowest RPM (fully back) • Transponder 7700 • ATC Mayday call • Passengers Seat backs Seat belts Glasses / false teeth Brace • Seatbelts tight • Electric fuel pump OFF • Fuel selector OFF • Magnetos OFF • Throttle CLOSED • Mixture I.C.O. • Undercarriage UP for water, rough terrain otherwise DOWN , 3 greens • Flaps set • Master switch OFF Emergency – Power Off Landing 11

  22. Electrical Fire • Master switch OFF • Cabin wall vents OPEN • Cabin heat, defrost CLOSED • Electrical services all OFF • Circuit breakers check • Master switch ON, check no smoke • One VHF radio ON • ATC advise intentions • Smoke / Fire ceases restore essential services one by one • Land as soon as practical Alternator Failure • Ammeter, ALT FAIL light cross-check • ALT switch OFF • Electrical load Reduce to minimum • ALT circuit breaker check / reset if required • ALT switch ON • Ammeter, ALT FAIL light check • If power not restored, advise ATC and land as soon as practical Persistent Alternator Overload (> 5 minutes) • ALT switch ON • BAT switch OFF • Ammeter Check load reduced • If load not reduced: BAT switch ON ALT switch OFF • Electrical load Reduce to minimum • Land as soon as practical Emergency – Electrical 12
