  3. A Little About Me • Grew up in Waukee • Graduated from Grand View University- Elementary Ed/Early Childhood • Reading Endorsement from Morningside College • Eighth year teaching • Three children that keep me busy! • Hobbies- reading, crafting and biking

  5. Classroom Management • PBIS- 4 R’s, Have a Hearts, The Heart Award • Positive behavior clip chart • Mr. Potato Head • Secret Student

  6. Daily Schedule 8:00-8:20- Calendar/opening 12:15-2:30- Science, 8:20-10:00- Literacy Specials, Recess, Religion, 10:00-10:45- Math Handwriting 10:45-11:00- Read Aloud 11:00-11:40- Lunch/Recess (parents welcome) 11:45-12:15- Rest/HWT

  7. Related Arts (Specials) • Monday- Guidance, Maker’s Space/Computer Lab • Tuesday- PE • Wednesday- Library • Thursday- Art • Friday- Music

  8. Curriculum • Religion • Literacy (Wonders, Countdown, guided reading groups, writing) • Handwriting Without Tears • EnVisions • Foss Science • Pint Size Science

  9. Homework • Not required in Kindergarten • Occasionally a parent/child activity will be sent home • Reinforces something we have been working on at school • Some things you can do to help: • Heart Words • Read with/to your child nightly

Arrival and Dismissal • Arrival: • Bell rings at 7:45; teachers on duty at 7:30 • Park and use crosswalk • Drive up line: • Child must exit from right side, parents stay in vehicle • Dismissal: • Bus riders will be walked out by associate • SHP dropped off at gym, car riders and walkers walked out west doors • Students must wait to be dismissed before leaving • Changes: • Please contact SHP • Please email me or send note

  11. Birthdays • All birthdays will be celebrated at school • Summer birthdays celebrated on ½ birthday • Weekend and break birthdays celebrated before or after • Show and Tell • Treats • Optional • Must be packaged and will be sent home in backpacks • There are 25 students in our class

Extras • Uniforms • Absence • Call or email the office (or email me and I will let the office know) • Mass • No out of uniform passes on Mass days • Food Pantry- peanut butter or money • Water bottles • Welcome and encouraged! • Spirit shirt day • First Friday of the month • Out of Uniform Days- monetary donation
