About the Club… Bedford Ladies HC was one of 8 Ladies Hockey Clubs from around the country that established the All England Women's Hockey Association way back in 1896 • 6 men’s teams • 6 ladies teams • Masters (035 & O45), • Academy (U16 & U18) • and a fantastic junior section www.bedfordhockeyclub.com

  8. Juniors playing league • Must be 13 or older

  9. Welfare • Take welfare of our juniors very seriously • Make sure they feel welcome and involved • Usually start off in the men’s or ladies 6s - Jenny puts them to work • 6s, 5s and 4s have great mix of youth and experience

  11. What can you do? • Join in • Talk to and work with the captains • Make sure you (or they) mark their availability by Tuesday night • Be flexible – many play club and school • Don’t push – it isn’t a race! • Ensure they have safe transport – e.g. no walking across to Biddenham

  12. What doesn’t help • You may think your kid is the next Alex Danson, but don’t push for them to move up too quickly • Coaching from the sidelines • Telling the coaches which position they should be playing your kid in

Selection • All players to let their captains know by Tuesday night. • PITCHERO at bedfordhockeyclub.com • Captains/ Coaches select on Wednesday pm • Personal communication if a player is asked to play down (or to parent if u18) with feedback • Teams subject to change depending on availability … “doing what is best for the club”

  14. What we need from your kid? • COMMITMENT - to training and matches as much as they can • PUNCTUALITY – early is on time • COMMUNICATION - availability as far in advance as possible • CLUB PLAYER not just a Team player • PARTICIPATE as fully as possible off the field … socials etc

  15. Subs: • £70/£90 for junior/student members • £10 per game match fees (all players) Family membership discounts available • Contact us if you have any problems – we can help!!

  16. Kit • New Adidas kit now available via the No Limitz online store (not compulsory) • Squad numbers will be given to all new players by the club captain • Socks, shirt and skort or shorts advised • Also BHC tracksuits, hoody’s, training wear available
