  3. The Issue

  4. Childhood Hunger • More than 16 MILLION KIDS in America— that’s 1 IN 5— struggle with hunger. That many kids would fill more than 200,000 school buses. • 10.5 million kids that receive a free or reduced-price school lunch could be getting a school breakfast…but they’re not. hat’s more than 1.8 BILLION MISSED BREAKFASTS over the course of a year. • Hungry kids have a harder time concentrating in school and tend to get sick more often. When kids get the food they need, they feel better, learn more and grow up healthier!

  7. Coins for Kids • Everyone has plenty of loose change – let’s raise awareness and funds by collecting dollars and coins from students, friends,family, teachers and staff. Everylittle bit helps in the fight to end childhood hunger. Dollars add up! Just $1 can help connect a child to 10 healthy meals! • Collect change from friends, family and neighbors – consider giving your allowance or giving up a fun activity (like an ice cream night or trade going out to eat for dinner at home) to help other kids!

Coins for Kids • Insert information about your event:- dates of program (we recommend at least a week!)- place coins will be collected and if at certain times, when those times are- any incentives (for example, a healthy snack party for the class that raises the most, wear your PJs for the grade that raises the most, etc.)

  9. Food Drive • Collecting items for our local food bank or pantry is a great way to help families in our own community. Students can bringin non-perishable goods that will be donated to XYZ. • Most needed items include: (get this information from your local food bank or pantry)

  10. Food Drive • Insert information about your event: - dates you will be collecting the food (werecommend at least a week!)- drop off point for food- any incentives (for example, a wear your PJs day if the overall school goalis met)

Farm • Orange is the color of hunger awareness.XYZ Schoolcan help raise awareness about the 1 in 5 kids who face hunger everyday by having our students all wear orange on the same day. • Lots of people are “Going Orange” – check out Amandla Stenberg and Sierra McCormick!   12. Why Wear Orange? • More than 16 million children in America are at risk of hunger. That’s more than 1 in 5. Enough to fill more than 200,000 school buses! • No Kid should grow up hungry and we are doing what you can to end childhood hunger for good!

Go Orange Day • Insert information about your event:- date you will be wearing orange- if you are making this a fundraiser, how much is the suggested donation- any incentives (for example, class that has the most people wearing orange gets a healthy snack party, grade with the most participants gets a wear your PJs day)

Fuel Up for Breakfast Mural • Breakfast is the most important meal of theday, but lots of kids struggling with hunger don’t get it even if it’s available at school, because they may be embarrassed that classmates know they don’t have food at home. To reinforce that breakfast is important, XYZ School will create a hallway mural that you can sign pledging you will eat breakfast along with write their favorite breakfast food.

  15. Fuel Up for Breakfast • Insert information about your event: - dates you will be collecting signatures for the mural- list of events during breakfast in thecafeteria to make breakfast fun!

  16. Sell No Kid Hungry Pin Ups • XYZ School will sell these pin ups for $1 each to help to raise both funds and awareness for our nation’s hungry children. • This is a great activity to add onto one of the other Schools for No Kid Hungry activities!

Sell No Kid Hungry Pin Ups • Insert information about your program:- dates you will be selling pin ups (we suggest at least a week)- if you are giving out stickers for donations- any incentives (for example, class that has the most participants gets a healthy snack party, grade with the most participants gets a wear your PJs day)- needs for volunteers (for example, print pin ups or stickers, collect money, etc.)

  18. Kids Sell No Kid Gear • XYZ School will sell fun gear, like these orange sunglasses and bracelets, to help to raise both funds and awareness for our nation’s hungry children. • Plan to get rock out your “Go Orange” gear and show your support for No Kid Hungry!

That’s equal to the entire population of Spain. • 10.5 million kids that receive a free or reduced-price school lunch could be getting a school breakfast…but they’re not. hat’s more than 1.8 BILLION MISSED BREAKFASTS over the course of a year.
